Rachel | 3525 comments Thanks for the update, Christine :) I hope we can both say this book was worth the trouble by the end- i know i will be glad to be done with it :D

i agree about looking forward to reading johnny's sections - i find his story less confusing and much more interesting than the story about the house (even if he is constantly high and can't seem to keep his pants on lol)

the book you're reading now qualifies for the a-n-g-e-l task :D The Green Mile, Part 4 The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix by Stephen King The Green Mile, Part 4: The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix

Rachel | 3525 comments don't forget you can read a book with an orange or black cover for the halloween task- noticed this on your tbr Tiger and Turtle by James Rumford

I don't know if I will finish this but tonight I started reading the most creepiest book that I own. The cover has interested me for years since I bought it from Borders back in 2011, shortly after I bought the book, I discovered words on the dust jacket cover actually GLOW IN THE DARK - freaked me out the first time I saw this. Since I moved into my new place in 2013, I have kept this book in the living room rather than my bedroom where most of my books are kept. It helps me sleep better at night not to have this book in my bedroom, but alas I have started reading the book tonight and it is by my bed. I will see if I can sleep. If the book is captivating enough perhaps I could finish by the end of the month - that would be something. I've been wanting to read this book for a long time and like The House of Leaves, no audiobook is available.
Here is the book cover if you dare:

The Dead Path by Stephen M. Irwin

Christine | 798 comments I'm adding another book to my challenge: The Rise & Fall of Great Powers by Tom Rachman Its spells out ANGEL in the title. I'm cheating a little bit because I spelled out "and" instead of using "&"

message 112: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments lol Thanks for the update Christine :D

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I know I haven't been active but i have read two books! The first one was a graphic novel called The True Lives of the Fabulous Kill Joys by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. It features a lesbain robot lady thingy. It was a very weird comic.

The second book I read was Star Wars A New Dawn!!! Its the first novel in the New Star Wars expanded universe and also the prequel to the show Rebels. It features a cover with a lot of orange on it. Its so far my favorite Star Wars novel. I can't wait to get the new book Tarkin... I ordered it. Star Wars YAY!!!!I'll probably be reading Tarkin for the Winter Challenge.

The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys by Gerard Way A New Dawn (Star Wars) by John Jackson Miller

My next book I will be reading is The Hobbit... well this one is a reread. read it back in highschool... Loved it.... The problem is, its a fantasy novel and its by Tolkien... so I remembered it taking me forever to read. Ive only read 1/3 of the Lord of the RingsTrilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring... Once again fantasy and Tolkien... but loved it also. The Hobbit is a Door Stopper for me. Lets see if I can read it without putting it down once.

Rachel | 3525 comments finished house of leaves-gave it 2 stars- can't remember the last time it took me so long to finish a book-happy to be finished with it!

Christine-What page are you on?

message 117: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I am so envious that you have finished. I am stalled at page 378. A bunch of books I had on reserve at the library came in and they are so much more entertaining than House of Leaves. My goal is to finish HoL over the weekend because I do not want to take it on my Thanksgiving travels.

All is well. Hope everyone is doing well!

The Hobbit is a great book. I recommend it. Ive read it before. Took me awhile the first time.

My PlayStation Vita rocks since it lets me get on the normal GoodReads site. So yeah, i'm planning on being more active...that and im tired of not feeling like ive complish much being at home.

I would not want to travel with this book either. I am so happy to be done with it- in my edition once i got to page 425 it was faster (many pages had little text and others just had larger print so it was easier to read)

sadly i can't say the story picks up but at least it ends lol

Where are you traveling to for Thanksgiving?

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Thanks Rachel! I celebrated Thanksgiving different this yr. Worked, then made myself a pizza and read my book. Hubby and son are at his mom's house for the holiday. Quiet time for me.
Did you have a wonderful Thanksgiving?

message 128: by Rachel (last edited Nov 28, 2014 08:08PM) (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments It was a nice day-spent the holiday with one of my sisters and her family
pizza actually sounds really good- i've never been much of a turkey fan- i ate chicken this year lol

Hope you enjoyed your book :)

message 129: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I finished the challenge!

I read Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for bullying,

The Bluest Eye for a book that had been banned,

and House of Leaves for leaves in the title.

I'm glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Mine was good but I am so glad to be home! Travel is not so much fun over holiday weekends, especially air travel.

I won't be completing the challenge on time but I will be finishing my third book for the challenge a bit late. I am really into The Dead Path (creepy cover) but I have to read it with my own two eyes because an audiobook is not available so it takes me longer.
The Dead Path by Stephen M. Irwin
