Fari (nothingbetterthanbooks) So, my Language Arts teacher said to try to learn the definition of a word everyday. I mean, we all try to guess what a word means from a context but we can't use it in a writing if we don't know it, not really... So, it's important to know the actual meaning of words and she said something after that, but my friend and I were talking with our eyes, so I kind of missed that... ;P

Also, a big part of this is so that I can look at this for words and adjectives when writing, so I'll sometimes put some simple words just so that I remember them when I write. I'll try to come here when I write. ;P

So, every day, I will try to put at least one new word with the definition and a couple synonyms. If anyone is looking at this, please feel free to suggest words for me to look up. Thanks!! :D

Fari (nothingbetterthanbooks) A few words for yesterday and today.

1. Ominous: Giving the impression that something bad or unpleasant is going to happen.

Synonyms: sinister, inauspicious, threatening

2. Pompous(this word is more for the spelling... I wanted to write it somewhere, but I couldn't remember what it was spelled like, so... ya... why not, right?): Affectedly and irritatingly grand, solemn or self-important.

Someone with a kind of high and mighty attitude.

Synonym: imperious, haughty, vain, proud, snobbish (snobbish is a word...)

3. Patronize: Act as if you care but it comes with an air of superiority and conceitedness.

(Found when searching for pompous)

4. Nostalgia: A sentimental longing or wistful affection.

Synonym: remembrance

(I guess it's a good thing, I searched this one up because for some reason, I assumed it meant 'the urge or need to throw up'???)

5. Taut: stretched or pulled tight; not slack.
