Combining multi-volume translation with single-volume original

If a book is published in parts it should not be combined with the complete edition (or the parts with each other).
Indeed, the parts should not be combined with the complete edition. What you can do if you insisted on linking the translation to the original is create a series with the translated books and add a link to the original in the series description. But do not add the original as an anthology in the series, I was told it might confuse readers to have the separated volumes + the full volume together when they do not both exist in all languages.
I think it's a bit the same situation as what has been discussed here:

I have a translation of this book: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...
In french, the editor published it in two volumes: 9782207301135 and 9782207301142.
Can I combine them with the english-written version ? Seeing these are the same literary work, I thought it would be logical, but I am not sure I ought to and I can't find reference to this in the librarian manual.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
