Maria (mariasaleem) | 882 comments Checking in!

I was thinking I could read a book for the "P" in Pierce Brown since I'm planning on reading The Wee Free Men by Terry Pracett as my first read

Hello! I’m going to be on vacation for the first few days of the challenge so I’ll have less time.

Plus, for most of the month I’m doing The Floor is Lava challenge in another group. Hopefully books will overlap

Hey! And oh ok, have fun on your vacation!

I'm participating in another challenge too. Have you heard of the magical readathon? I've already planned my tbr according to that, so I'm hoping those books will overlap with this challenge! Fingers crossed for the both of us I guess 😅

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments Checking in. I will be on vacation from August 9th-August 24th. I am driving from VA to CA, so several of those days will be spent driving and not reading. While I will probably use audiobooks for those days, they are incredibly slow for me so we will see. So, this month will be very ‘just for fun’ for me. But most likely will still read 15-20 books. I will definitely grind the first week of August.

message 7: by Krystal (last edited Jul 26, 2019 02:44PM) (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments So here are the books I have to read for August, so far.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2) by Tahereh Mafi Black Wings Beating (Skybound #1) by Alex London Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black Mercy by Jodi Picoult In the Time of Dragon Moon (Wilde Island Chronicles, #3) by Janet Lee Carey The Star-Touched Queen (The Star-Touched Queen, #1) by Roshani Chokshi Ashes to Ashes (Burn for Burn, #3) by Jenny Han The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett The Wicked Will Rise (Dorothy Must Die, #2) by Danielle Paige The Perfect Mother by Aimee Molloy Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas Shadow Study (Soulfinders #1; Study, #4) by Maria V. Snyder

These are my physical book except for (Unravel Me), (Heir of Fire), and (Shadow Study) as well as others. I usually try to do any of my BRs with ebooks because it's just easier. I also need to look at the August Buddy Read thread as well.

Magical Readathon, that sounds really fun!

Gabi | 563 comments Helloooo Team Exercise Wheel!!! Checking in! :D

message 10: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments For the first board, I was going to read Try by Ella Frank, and knock out the three E's.

I'm going to be reading The Unhoneymooners soon too with a friend! No letters in that book for this board, but maybe for the second.

No worries! I've driven from CA to VA before, and it's a lot of driving and work. That's why we have Just For Fun! That way we don't stress too much about reading when life gets crazy ;) That's why I joined, since this summer has been busy I've skipped the last few monthly challenges, but this is the Mega Month one! Couldn't miss that one.

It's definitely a big vacation for me so I will be focusing more on that. But I can't go long without reading so I will def still be doing that, lol.

Oh yeah. Always have to bring a book with me. Sometimes if I'm going somewhere I'll bring two if I think I might finish the first one XD but make sure you enjoy your vacation too!

message 14: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments Bookbuyer was kind enough to make a spreadsheet anyone can use! I thought this might help with the challenge if we could keep track. I'm not very good with computers, so please let me know if it works alright :)

Schwab A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia, #3) by C.S. Lewis

message 17: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments Oh Maria I JUST finished The Picture of Dorian Gray! If you read it in August let me know if you like it! It’s one of the few classics I really enjoyed

message 18: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasaleem) | 882 comments Ok! I'm sure I'll like it. I read a short story by Oscar Wilde once. It was heart wrenchingly beautiful

Ooh, great picks, Laura! I wish I could, but I don't think I'd get to the Two Towers any time soon this year, let alone August.. I hope you enjoy it though! And all the other books on your tbr

message 25: by melanie (new)

melanie Hey everyone! If you don’t mind please add the books you’re planning to read on August to the spreadsheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

It’ll help us stay organized.

message 26: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments Can someone add the other wheels as well so we can plan ahead. It's not letting me format it correctly.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I am a spontaneous reader plus my other challenge will require certain types of books. Unfortunately, I can’t plan ahead that much. I’ll add the books that fit once I figure out what I’m reading.

message 28: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments Krystal wrote: "Can someone add the other wheels as well so we can plan ahead. It's not letting me format it correctly."

Oh Krystal! I've got The Cruel Prince on hold, it should be available in 2 weeks. Would you like to make it a BR with me? Then I can knock out "B"!

message 29: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments For sure, would love to do a buddy read. Are we able to use different letters for the same book if read by a different reader? We may need to verify.

message 30: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments I’m pretty sure it’s okay! But I’ll send a message to Sarah to make sure :)

message 31: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments * You will only be able to claim one letter for one book (ie: you can claim an 'E' and receive bonus points for every E on your board, but you can't claim both an 'E' and a 'T'.)

I found this in the rules so I'm curious to see what she says.

message 32: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments Also added all of the other wheels to the spreadsheet for people who want to go ahead and put them. I will only because once I go on vacation, I won't be on the spreadsheet as much.

message 33: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments Sarah said it was okay! 😁 We’re good! Would you like me to request a BR thread for two weeks from now?

message 34: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments I’m on mobile at the moment but later when I’m on a computer I can add my book to the spreadsheet.

callie (artsy_bibliophile) | 907 comments When do we find out what the first thing we need to spell out is?

message 40: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments It’s on the review page as well as our spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is a few posts up.

message 41: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 563 comments Hey Krystal! Since my loan for Cruel Prince is for 2 weeks, but it might show up sooner, do you want me to ask for a BR for the 7th? That way if it gets here early, we can start early, or if it does take two weeks, it's okay to start late. I checked with the rules first! (Can't start a book sooner than 7 days, can't start a book later than 14!)

message 42: by Krystal (new)

Krystal Ayers | 5691 comments That’s fine, whichever date you think will work best!
