When her father died, Lucy Mae Estmond inherited the family business. She has known all of her life that she would be in line to watch over the souls of the recently passed, keeping them safe from the Reapers.
The soul eating Reapers have been a plague upon the Earth, stealing souls and leaving the Keepers as the only thing that stands between Heaven and Hell. The factions despise each other and have warred for generations.
Then Lucy discovers an ancient legend predicting the arrival of the Chosen One, destined to bring forth an end to the Reapers. The surprises continue when she realizes she is that person. For Lucy, being the Chosen One doesn’t change much. Fighting Reapers is just another day in the life of a Keeper.
When she meets Jack Walker, they both realize they have an insane, mutual attraction. Too bad that he’s been sent to prevent the prophecy from coming true. His only mission: to kill the Chosen One.
Jennifer Malone Wright is best known for her best selling novella series, The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Other works include the follow up to The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, The Graveyard Guardians series and her full length vampire novel called Savior (A Higher Collective Novel).
She resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children where she practices preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Just kidding!
But seriously, between the craziness of taking care of her children, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on her beloved fiction or chatting with her equally crazy friends.
This book seemed promising, ratings were high and the cover looked great. However, the story was too crude for me to get through and the plot was obviously cliche. Now I rarely stop reading a book, but I couldn't continue with the story after the third sex scene occurred in a matter of 11 chapters and the main characters had only met once for less than 5 mins.
Reapers suck the souls from the living and dead; while Keepers save souls from the evil Reapers. Jack Walker is the son to the Empress and Emperor making him heir to the Reaper high leadership. He would like nothing more than to live his life for himself and away from his overbearing mother. Jack is sent to destroy the Chosen One, who is reported to be the youngest child of the Estmond Clan. However, meeting the "One" proves to be strange as he finds himself feeling a connection which can't be good for a Reaper where a Keeper is concerned. Lucy Mae Estmond is just trying to get over he fathers passing, but as a Keeper she has the duty to keep souls safe. Then her father appears to her as a new soul for her to keep with a message letting her know she is the Chosen One. Lucy hasn't a clue what that means or what to do with that info, so she begins to uncover the prophecy. Lucy also finds her life is now in more danger as she is no longer just a Keeper, but the one that could bring an end to the Reapers. Now if she could get rid of this pesky connection and feelings for a certain arrogant Reaper.
Overall, I can only fairly judge the book based on how far I read, but I forced myself to read until the main characters interacted, which took 9 chapters to make that happen. The language was too foul, almost overly so. Now I know people cuss, I'm not naive, but I really hate f-bombs being used so frequently. Then the perspectives changed up randomly to another character, which threw me. I really just kept waiting for the story to get going and instead Jack kept having sex again and again, but not with Lucy. Getting to the end of chapter 11 was hard and I finally decided the book wasn't worth my time. So if you're willing to put up with foul language, a slow paced plot, sex, and probably a cliche Romeo and Juliet Type Plot-line, Then you could try this book, but I could not finish it and have deleted it.
It was Lucy’s destiny as a Keeper to be the last line of defense against Reapers out to steal the souls of the dead. It was also her destiny to be the prophesied Keeper to put an end to the soul-sucking Reapers. Little did she know, there would be one Reaper who could steal her heart and his mission was to end her life.
KEEPER VS. REAPER by Jennifer Malone Wright had huge potential for me! Good versus evil, forbidden love, Fate…yep, it’s all there! There are even moments of clever wit! Yet, I felt I was caught between pages, sometimes, like I missed a little something, probably my fault, but I just couldn’t feel this one like I wanted and was a little too choppy for me.
Ms. Wright does open with a “bang” though, Jack the Reaper having meaningless sex with a well-endowed female and so it continues for him, over and over. Meanwhile, Lucy has faced the death of her father and the new responsibilities she is shouldered with, her well-meaning, but interfering family and she is still pretty darn even-keeled about it.
When Lucy and Jack finally meet, the attraction wasn’t sizzling, and Jack’s reaction was kind of “ewwwwwww” for me.
I loved the idea of the book, saw great possibilities, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Series: Graveyard Guardians - Book 1 Publisher: Jennifer Malone Wright (August 9, 2014) Publication Date: August 9, 2014 Genre: Paranormal Romance Print Length: 393 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble For Reviews & More: http://tometender.blogspot.com
I had to stretch to give this a three. The idea behind the book is a good one Reapers, who feed off souls, versus Keepers who protect them .Then there was the prophecy that made Lucy Mae the keeper to end all reapers. Her. father dies, and her life is turned upside down. The reaper arrives, a royal son at that, named Jack. He only has to kill one college student. He finds himself attracted instead. This book has way to much sex. Jack sleeps with anything that walks, and has a foul mouth. All the characters do. The F word is dropped so much, that eventually you skip ahead of the story, in hopes it improves. Her family is loyal, if dysfunctional, at the least. Jack will have to choose, where his loyalty lies, and that means his whole way of life. Aiden is Jack's friend, but wants to move up higher in the Reaper administration. I just no longer cared honestly. This book had so many options to improve. Not every one reading is attracted to open sex, with no meaning, and a foul use of our English. That all distracted from the heart of the story. Jack could not even look at Lucy, who he has deep feelings for, without sexual detail in his every thought.. icky I will not check out the next one. 2.5 stars. rounded to three.
I just loved this book! I’m so happy I have both the book and the audiobook. My favorite setup are books that have graveyard scenes. I loved how the author does the souls after death. The auras the main character could see are beautiful. Lucy finds out she is the Chosen One. Now all the Reapers want her dead. Just because she is the one to end them doesn’t mean it involves killing them all. Well, I think it will be because her and the head Reaper, Jack, hooked up. After all, she only wats to live a peaceful life.
There was so much action in this book. Jack’s mother is evil. There were some close calls. I loved Lucy’s dad. I’m curious to see how Jack will feed from souls in the future. Loved Ethan and all the other characters. Hope everyone gets their own book. I would also like to see a Christmas book with Lucy’s family.
The narrator was great and did the voices wonderfully. This really brought the book to life.
#TeamJack YES PLEASE! This book is so different from anything I've read lately. You've got Reapers that survive on souls, & the Keepers who have sworn to protect the souls. They have been enemies since, well forever. Until...Jack walked in for a donut. Who knew their whole world to be turned upside down with one simple touch? Ok...I seriously could not put this book down! The character's personalities are as dazzling as their auras, their sarcasm contagious, & the possibilities unlimited. The reference to Romeo & Juliet fits well as these two families, born enemies, shall not accept one another much less allow whatever is happening between Lucy & Jack to continue. Or will they? No spoilers here...You will have to snatch this story up upon release to get the details, folks. Trust me when I tell you that you will NOT regret it! http://jenisbookshelf.blogspot.com/20...
This book was a slow starter. I thought it was one that I would struggle with but it soon picked up and now I want to read the next one. It's a modern day Romeo and Juliet. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next book. Quick breakdown. Girl is a keeper, boy is a reaper. They are supposed to be enemies but fall in love and theirs a prophecy surrounding them both. In this first installment they meet. Families find out. Girl kidnapped, boy saves her.

My Review: 4+ Stars The seven Estmond children are gathered for their father's funeral. They aren't just any children gathered in a cemetery for a funeral. They are Keepers who have been raised since birth to protect the spirits in the graveyard from Reapers. This particular cemetery is now under the care of the youngest Estmond child, Lucy. After the funeral and everyone has cleared out of the house, Lucy walks the cemetery for some peace and quiet. But she discovers her father hasn't passed over. He's stayed because he has a message for her and he wants to be sure she understands the seriousness of it.
She is the Chosen One. She is the one intended to end the Reapers. She must find the information left in her Great Grandmother's trunk in the attic. After sharing the news about her father and his news to her with her brothers and sisters, the siblings all troop to the attic and find the trunk.
Lucy meets one Reaper, but things don't go the way they normally do. Normally when a Reaper and a Keeper touch, they burn each other painfully. But Lucy and Jack don't burn, they attract each other. Both of them feel a very strong attraction to the other. And that causes real problems for Jack because he's there for just one reason. To kill the Chosen One.
Jack and Lucy end up together, but not without a lot of trouble with the Empress, his best friend, and a lot of security guards. The Reapers have a prophecy, too and it seems to require some of Lucy's blood.
I had two questions at the end of the book. 1. Why does Emily disappear? and 2. Since Lucy and Jack had sex without a condom, any child they had would be considered combining their blood. Would that answer the Reapers' prophecy? I definitely need to read book two, especially since when Hannah called for help, she said she'd just killed a Reaper. Things are still happening in that quiet little town! There are violence and sex. And the writing is great! I really recommend this to those of you who don't mind ghosts in your graveyards.
(Update: 7 Jun 22) Adding extra tags/shelves. I'm finally organizing more lol.

This was a fascinating read, the 1st book in the Graveyard Guardians series.
The Reaper reaps souls to live & the keepers save them. Both natural enemies.
The book starts off with Jack being sent to kill the ‘Chosen one’ who will be the end Reapers. On Other side, Lucy & her siblings were attending to their father's funeral. They thought he'll crossover but didn't, his soul told him about the prophecy & how Lucy was the ‘chosen one’.
From the 1st unintended encounter, they both felt dangerous attraction. They didn't have the burn that reapers & keepers have when they touched. They just felt a spark of lust. He felt an ‘intense need to protect her’. He even attacked his friend- Aiden- who came to kill her per Jack's mom - the Reaper empress's- order.
They both felt something, so lucy confronted him. They kissed & it was all kinds of good.
Maybe when he was gone, the lust will fade? Though when he was leaving, Aiden kidnapped her.
Against all orders & instincts, the keeper siblings & Jack, together, Approached the Reaper's castle to save her.
they rekindled their relationship & she told him, (kinda) “ I never wanted you to leave, Stay”
This is just a start of a beautiful relationship & the dangerous war.
*Got the audiobook in exchange of my honest review* This was my 1st read on PlayBooks!
I really wanted to like this book. The story blurb was interesting & seemed promising. And there were 2 POVs. However, I just could not continue. Partly cuz the author decided to include every.single.detail. I really don't care if the main character uses irish spring soap or some kind of soap to smell nice, lathers well or comes out on the plush bath mat, drying himself. Really, not needed. It drags the book and takes forever to get to the point. I went through several chapters without really getting to anything important or stuff I cared for. But, plenty of sex there...in fact, chapter one starts with it.
Same with the other main character. Every detail was written and that makes me conclude that every chapter will be like that. Who has the time? This was not for me! I will not be continuing with this series.
This was a decent read. I was surprised by all the sex in it. That was because I thought his was a YA book. I liked how Jack was willing to stand up to his mother in the end. I was also glad to see that he wasn't as evil as the rest of the Reapers. I did like how Lucy's family was willing to stick up for her. Although, I didn't care for her brother with a drinking problem. He will do something stupid eventually and things will get bad. I already own the next book so I will continue on and see how this goes.
This is the first book in an intriguing NA series. I enjoyed it.
I downloaded this on to my Kindle, but due to time issues was not able to read it. So when the author offered me a complimentary code for an audiobook copy in return for an honest review, I gladly accepted.
This book is narrated by Kelsey Osborne. Unfortunately, I don't know what it was, but I found that her voice, although young and energetic, sometimes set my teeth on edge. I mean no disrespect. She read the story clearly, but there was just something about her reading style that rubbed me the wrong way. I cannot put my finger on the reason why. Other readers/listeners may not have the same reaction.
Lucy Mae Estmond is not your typical character. She is a Keeper, or protector of souls. I have no idea what age she is, but she acted like an angst-filled teen rather than a responsible adult at times. I struggled to like her due to the self-pity party she had going on. Granted, her father had just passed away and she felt emotional, but I felt like strangling her on occasions.
Jack Walker on the other hand is a fantastic character. He has his faults and is a total jerk, but he seemed more mature and with it than Lucy. He's a Reaper and the enemy of the Keepers due to the fact he eats souls to survive. He also happens to be the son of the Emperor and Empress of the Reapers, and has been sent on a mission to kill the chosen one.
I started to listen to this book and received a shock. It's not often a book starts out with an explicit sex scene. However, once I got over that little surprise, I began to understand why the author would do that. It shows the reader the supposed personality of the character. I'm just glad I was listening to it with my headphones on, or my Dad would have had a huge shock too and I would have been completely embarrassed! Anyway, back to the review. Once I got over that stumbling block, I really enjoyed meeting the Estmond clan. They are as complex and diverse as any family. They fight with each other, as siblings do, but if one of them is in danger they band together and are a formidable team when threatened. Jack's best friend Aiden is also intriguing. He's got a tough job, being Jack's friend, but he's ambitious and determined to rise in the ranks of the Reapers.
The story is a little predictable at times, especially near the beginning. It is told through the eyes of Jack, Lucy and Aiden. However, there are a few twists and turns that kept me hooked. The mystery of the prophecy regarding the "chosen one" made for an interesting twist. However, there is not much romance between the two main protagonists in the beginning. In fact, they don't interact until quite some time into the story. However, once they meet, things get interesting. There's a spectacular fight scene near the end of the book that got my heart racing, and now I am looking forward to reading Keeper of the Peace as soon as possible.
Jennifer Malone Wright has written an intriguing start to a series. I love her fast paced writing style and the flow of the story was wonderful. I have read only one other book by this author, but I would definitely read more of her books in the future.
Due to scenes of explicit sexual situations and the liberal use of bad language, I do not recommend this book to young readers under the age of 18. I do, however, recommend this book if you love new adult paranormal romances with spunky heroines and sexy heroes. - Lynn Worton
Jackson Walker peeled open his eyes when the morning sun came streaming through his bedroom window.
Jack is the son of the Emperor and Empress of Reapers. He is tasked to destroy the Chosen One. Lucy Estmond is a Keeper. Her job is to collect and protect from the Reapers who want to devour the souls. There is a burst of energy when a reaper touches a keeper. Jack is very surprised that his feelings for Lucy are not of destruction but rather of hope and building. The Empress is displeased with Jack's inability to kill Lucy and has her kidnapped. Jack joins the Estmond clan to retrieve her. Can the two of them stop the ongoing war between reapers and keepers?
The book flips back and forth between point of view. It was a bit distracting at first. I read 10 plus chapters before I fell into the rhythm of the writing. I really did not like Jack at the beginning of the book. He became more tolerable as he interacted with Lucy. The story had a very Romeo and Juliette feel to it with a few modern twists. I will read the next book just to see if the Seer's prophecies come to fruition.
This book is about just what the title says Keepers (soul protectors) vs Reapers (soul suckers/stealers). Our two lead people are Jack a reaper and Lucy a young keeper who has just lost her father. I feel in love with Lucy her quick wit and overall attitude had me laughing though out. Jack was a hard one for me to love. He has a lot of issues but you will learn why (mommy issues).
Over all I felt Jennifer did an amazing job with this book. I loved how it was written. Getting the POV of the main people. She made it easy to love and hate them all. Lucy has a big family and it took me a good part of the way to remember who was who. By the time I needed to know I did. Liv is the big sis we all want. Greg is the protector, Hannah well she needs help. And Dan don’t you get me started on DAN. Oh and there is Ethan I want to feel bad for him but then again I don’t there is more to this boy then meets the eye. He had a rough life and the Estmonds think of him as one of their own but him and Lucy have well a complicated past.
So here the Estmonds are burying their father although he doesn’t do what he should staying behind to tell Lucy of a prophecy that she is the chosen on. That is where jack come in he there to kill Lucy as she is the one who will end the Reapers. But Jack just doesn’t want to be bothered. So his mom who is the head of the Reapers sends his BFF that’s where stuff gets good. And by good I mean you won’t put this book down and will but up till 3am reading and I’m not giving anything else away. So in ending yes you need to buy this book. Yes you need to read it, and yes you will love it. I can’t think Jennifer enough for such a great book. This is a great book with drama and lust and love and fighting and all the in-between stuff. So pick up today sit back and enjoy the read!
Outstanding. Full review to come, but Jennifer has outdone herself with this sexy, captivating, completely engrossing novel. Yes, it's THAT good! Now go get a copy, I promise you will LOVE it, DROOL over it, and want to start it all over AGAIN!
Full review:
When I began this book, I was sitting down to my morning coffee, gently smiling over the fact that the wonderful Jennifer Malone Wright had forwarded on a copy for me to read. Never once did I realise that "Keeper vs. Reaper" would have me captivated for an entire day! This book truly has it all: sexiness, intrigue, passion, a fast paced plot, a little twist here and there, and above all else, it's a completely new direction for an author who is not only blossoming, but she is one to watch!
Jack(a reaper) was a GREAT character, and whilst I know not all readers will fall in love with him instantly, I couldn't help but fall in love with his conflicting personality. He has a lot going on in his head, and his mother doesn't ease those burdens. Jennifer did a brilliant job of letting us inside his head.
Lucy (a keeper) is mourning the death of her father and comes from a pretty big family. Lucy soon finds out that she is the "chosen one" in a prophecy that completely shocks her. Lucy was a great character too. I found myself howling at some of her one liners, her gusto and the fact that she is one smart, level headed and feisty heroine.
Then we have Ethan...poor little lost boy Ethan, taken in by the Estmonds, and treated like one of their own, but is there something we don't know? Is Ethan all that he appears to be? Hmmmm......
All in all, this is a superb book for anyone who wants to delve into the paranormal world. It will make you laugh, shout, cringe and above all else, it will entertain you. Now go grab a copy.
While I have some of this author's other books on my TBR, I haven't yet had a chance to read any of her other work. But if the rest is as good as Keeper vs Reaper, I think I'm going to be pretty darn happy with her books.
This was one of those unputdownable reads for me. I thought the concept was pretty cool and original, and really enjoyed the bit of modern day, paranormal Romeo and Juliet theme laced into this story. Everything flowed so well, making it easy for me to fly right through...where I'm now impatiently waiting for the next in the series. Because dang, this story was outstanding!
For some reason when I started reading, I got the impression that the characters were younger than they actually are, though I'm not sure why. But this cast of characters was fleshed out pretty well-I really liked all the different personalities of Lucy's siblings, and Lucy herself was a bit of a spitfire. And of course there's Jack. Though at first you get the whole bad boy vibe from him (which is pretty damn tempting in itself), that just gets so turned around once he and Lucy meet and touch for the first time, and having him change into the whole sexy alpha-protector role just throws him up a whole ton of notches on the book boyfriend scale.
You'll get some great action, intrigue, and soulmate-style romance (in addition to the hot and steamy scenes that definitely put this as an 18+ read), characters that you'll care about...and a great need to see where everything goes from here. And then there's Aiden...whose character I'm really intrigued to see again...
Growing up Lucy Estmond family has been known as the Keepers of the Souls and protects the Graveyards so that the souls can rest peacefully. Jack Walker is on the other side of the fence, he is a Reaper where they steal the souls before the Keepers can take them, they live on the energy of others. However , War is destined to break out between the pair as the prophecy is coming true. It was prophesied a long time ago, that the seventh daughter in the Estmond Family who would be born on the seventh day on the seventh month would be the Keeper that would bring the end to the Reapers and Lucy is that Keeper. Jack Walker has been sent to kill her , but he isn't just any odd reaper Jack is the Prince of the Reapers and the only heir to the Reaper Throne and is father is ill so it seems that Jack may be King sooner than he intended. What starts out just like any mission, will turn topsy-turvy as Jack and Lucy have a connection, something that has never ever been experienced between the two arch-enemies before. When it comes to the crunch though, who will Jack choose - his family and legacy or will he turn his back on it all for the one he loves and will Lucy's family and the other Keepers accept him ?
Find out in this awesome Paranormal novel "Keeper Vs Reaper" and I look forward to reading more in the Graveyard Guardians series and seeing which direction it goes.
What a great book by Jennifer Malone Wright. This is the first book that I have read by her but I am completely hooked. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. This book has some drama, love, action, and of course lust. You get taken from the very beginning and you have to stay until it’s over. I have to admit that there are parts where I cried, where I smiled, and even laughed. I became part of the book and joined in with the very likeable characters. I loved how involved all of characters are in the story you have your main characters Lucy and Jack, but you cannot help liking everyone involved even a couple of the villains.
You start off meeting Lucy and her family of keepers and the tragedy that they are going through and then you meet Jack the Reaper, who will forever change his life by coming to their small town. One event will change both Lucy’s and Jack’s lives forever, as well as, their friends and family. If you are looking for a great series that has keepers, reapers, seers, and a prophecy of great proportions to get involved in (and you will get involved) the Graveyard Guardians is the series for you.
I have to say that I am now a Graveyard Guardian junkie and cannot wait for the next book. I will forever be a fan of Jennifer Malone Wright.

I was addicted to this book from beginning to end and I enjoyed every minute of it!!! I never would have thought in a million years that this amazing author could blow me away once again, and guess what, she has amazed me with her writing style with this new series. This story is full of action, suspense, and family. That's what I liked the most about the book was how tight the family was to one another. I loved the love, hate, and romance throughout the story. It has for sure left me wanting to read the next one!! I am also all for #TeamJack. He is super hot and super sexy and a reaper!!! This book is full of surprises but yet some parts you just knew would eventually happen, it was just a matter of time. I highly recommend this NA Paranormal!! Due to the graphic language, reader discretion is advised.
Hurry and pick up this phenomenal story and I am sure you will be just as hooked as I am to this story. I am so ready for book two and see were the next journey will take us.
I really liked this book. The story was quite unique from other books I've read so far and that kept me glued to the pages, but what I found most impressive were the characters. They were so relateable and felt authentic. Lucy and her family had a close bond and loyalty to each other, but the author allowed us to see their flaws and the dysfunction that many regular families experience. This brought the story to life for me. Add to that the fact that they were Keepers and their deceased father lived as a ghost in the cemetary they guard. Brilliant!
Of course I can't leave out Jack. He was such a badboy oozing sex appeal and attitude. He was sent to Summer Hollow to find the Chosen One and to take her out. He never expected to be attracted to her and have protective feelings for her. This only made him sexier.
Keepers, Reapers and an unescapeable prophecy make for an exciting story. I highly recommend this book.
It was a nice story. And a really original idea. Only it needs some serious editing. There were loads of grammatical mistakes and a few inconsistencies. So that spoiled my fun of this book a bit - hence only 3 stars...
Lucy is the next in line to be the Keeper of souls that have recently passed including her father. Her job is to make sure that Reapers don’t come and snatch them before they get a chance to cross over. Jack is a reaper, whose new job is to kill the Chosen One….big problem however once he meets Lucy he has a sudden urge to protect her. Can Lucy be the one to end all Reapers or will her attraction to Jack come in the way?
Jennifer has once again blown me away! The story is well written and has you wondering what is going to happen next…will Lucy, the chosen one end all Reapers or will she fall for the one man she isn’t supposed to? I loved the interaction with her father after his passing, still pulling strength from the man she has looked up to all her life. Lucy and Jack as well as all the other other supporting characters are well defined and add so much to t
I one clicked this book a few weeks ago, not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the story line and immediately fell in love with the Lucy. Jennifer Malone Wright didn't waste a single moment to jump into Jack's promiscuous behaviors. This book is a tale of Keepers (guardians to the souls who have not crossed after death), and Reapers who feed on the souls for sustenance. Lucy, a keeper, inherits her fathers role when he loses his battle to cancer. Lucy not much later finds she is part of prophecy. Meanwhile, Jack the Reaper is on a mission to end the one the prophecy speaks of. Insert twists, love, angst, some hot kissing scenes and a large group of fiery redheads. It was a fun read and left me turning the pages and with some crazy dreams.I am excited to read book 2.
Any story where girl meets Bad boy and turns him into a simpering fool of the heart, you know will be a great read for all those who enjoy a happily ever after. Lucy and Jack come from opposite ends of the supernatural spectrum yet gravitate immediately to each other. Opposites attract? While one is here to protect those who have yet to "cross over" the others purpose to collect and "feed" on these spirits. And though it should be destined for a couple such as these to not be together, the pull to the other is to great. Lucy's family and history is long as keepers go, and she alone has a higher purpose. Her family is supportive and loves fiercely, which enables this heroine to do what needs to be done. Jacks family is a bit more dysfunctional, and understandable as to why he looks to find a way to defect from them. Super read!
The Chosen One, and I wish I had chosen another. This is one of those many books that's sat in my digital library waiting to be read. Often I find a great gem. This is not the case. O how I wanted to love this book. I would've settled for liking it. I was simply jumping for joy when it was over. Was it the worse I've ever read. No, there are some books I could never finish. But this one just ends smack. And it ends a few(3) pages after it appears the author finally gets a rhythm. Don't get me wrong I like Romeo and Juliet being told in yet another way. And it has its merit, so I give it two stars for it being a solid plot line that didn't go all over the place. But I honestly I wish it had went somewhere. I know cliffhangers have to happen, but the story hadn't gained its legs yet to justify investing in the next book.
