KDP question/problem

Hi, I'm very very new to this group. Hope it's okay to ask this because I seriously don't know what to do now.

Okay so this is the problem I have; I wrote a short story a few months ago, my wish was to self publish so I found an editor and someone to so the cover for me. So far so good. The problem was the publishing process itself. I want to KDP, signed in and TRIED to publish the story but it gives me an error because I don't live in the US, the UK or all 72 countries (maybe less) allowed cause KDP doesn't have a store there (??) I sent an email to the customer support and the response was that I should get a credit card (?) called Payoneer and that should let me do it. Except Payoneer has rejected my application and I don't know why.

The question is; any other writer from South America ever had a problem like this? Any advice on HOW can I publish my story and my future books?

Hi Fran! Welcome to the group. I've been publishing with KDP since 2016 and have never heard of this issue. Granted, I publish from Canada, but it's my understanding Brazil has an Amazon store as well.

Are you sure the issue blocking you isn't something else? To help you further, what country in particular are you trying to publish from?

Well, I don't have much but, here's what I do have. I've run several searches and asked a number of fellow authors about this issue and the consensus answer keeps coming back that you need to upload to Amazon.com for it to work.

I understand you have tried this, and the thing is, not being located in Chile myself it's hard for me to see what you're seeing. I can tell you, a credit card of any kind shouldn't be required to upload to KDP.

Wish I could be of more help :( Do we have any members in Chile who could shed further light on this situation and help a fellow author out?

In the US they want a bank account so they can deposit your royalties. (I've never heard of Payoneer)

Is it possible to set up an account with an international bank such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch or Deutsche Bank? You may need a minimum deposit to set it up. You could check with Amazon and see if that is acceptable.

You might also add 'Chile' to your question title. Maybe someone will see it that way. Good luck! :)

I hope you've already solved your problem, but if not, it occurred to me that you could check Amazon for other Chilean indie-authors and contact them to see if they had the same problem, and, if so, how they solved it. Best of luck!
