Announcement: Missing ACEs

After some investigating, we’ve found that the ACEs that went missing a few days ago were lost due to a migration we were performing to improve site performance. While we are still investigating, unfortunately they may have been permanently removed from the database. Please feel free to recreate them. Since the migration is complete, no additional ACEs should be affected. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I am closing this thread to comments. If we have any additional updates, we will reopen it and post again. For requests regarding specific books, please start new threads in the Book Issues folder, or bump up ones you have already started.

Update: Our clever developers have been able to determine a way to restore the affected books. Any that have already been recreated (manually or via the imports) with the ISBN or ASIN will not be created again. The others will be. While there is some chance of duplicate editions being created (for those without an ASIN/ISBN), we think that's better than needing to recreate them all manually.

I am going to leave this thread open to allow for reports of any problems as we run the process to restore the missing editions. Please do not post requests to fix specific books in this thread; start new threads for that.

For a bunch of the ones I added that I know were affected, something strange is still going on.

Here is one example, if you need others then you can check all the other books in this series as I added ACEs for all of them.

This specific edition (which is the one I added with the ACE tool) is still acting wonky with basically no information showing. You won't be able to actually access the page, but you can see what I mean from the all editions view.

The edit page is accessible, and the edition has no data. So I'm merging it. I think it's left from the initial issue, rather than the replacement data.

Please let us know if you see any others like that, or if they are similarly blank, just go ahead and merge them.

Edit: And the ACE was not recreated in that case, because in the meantime a new edition was imported from Amazon.

Actually that ACE was of the paperback edition which has not had a new edition import. Only the Kindle edition imported.

The information for the edition is still in my librarian log which is why I thought the recreation is what messed up as the edits were there except for the ISBN but when you clicked on the book attached to those edits it was the inaccessible link I gave.

ETA: Here are 6 more of the books that didn't get recreated, all paperback editions (so the Kindle editions imported are not the ACEs still missing). Again the edits for the editions can be found on the 2nd and 3rd page of my librarian log if needed.
