Today's the day! I'm irrationally excited to be starting Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but the day has finally come.

0%: Haven't started yet, but I will do so later. I'm currently reading three books at once, so it will be a lot to manage, but I can do it. I just might not do my homework. :0

Chapter 3
First time reading this since it came out and I gotta say, I regret not reading it again earlier. I have missed this story. (view spoiler)[ Especially Harry's escape from the Dursley's. I'd forgotten how light hearted the books were to begin with. Just getting to see Mr. Dursley get to angry about the letters is satisfying. (hide spoiler)] Starting again soon. I have a couple other books going.

(view spoiler)[ I had forgotten how much I love Hagrid. Harry was so lucky to have him introduce him to Hogwarts. I really wish there was Diagon Alley to visit. I know there is a little Hogsmeade somewhere, but I would love to see more. And I could read a whole book about Gringotts and the history of it. Those goblins have to have so many stories about people breaking in. (hide spoiler)]

I also loved the part with all the letters trying to make it to Harry right before he turns 11 and his uncle trying so hard to run away from the letters and not let Harry see them. I don't like Dudley he is such a spoiled rotten brat and his parents are not helping. I can't wait to see what happens at Hogwarts? It was sad how his parents died and that Harry was kept in the dark all those years, and treated so badly by his own family. (hide spoiler)]

42% End of Ch. 7: I am enjoying learning about the houses and Harry going shopping with Hagrid. (view spoiler)[ I am glad Harry is now at the school, no more horrible family. I am loving Hermione! She is such a chatter box, and she is so smart, who in the heck memorizes all those books!? I think Ron is funny too, he has to fit in and not be the family disappointment. I loved that Harry and Ron are in the same house and that Harry is getting to experience the magic at this school, ghosts and goblins and wizards and witches, and apparently there are vampires somewhere too, that poor teacher can attest to that! Those are some of the best! IMO they each get better. they are very easy to read though, so usually easy to get through.

It's been since 2006 when I last joined Harry on an adventure. I remember at the time being so disgusted at people I worked with saying they wouldn't let their kids read it since it "promoted witchcraft". Honestly, I read murder mysteries and I have yet to commit murder. What was even more important was all the wonderful values and virtues that are expressed in these books!!

Sorry for the rant, I will try to get a copy of the audiobook so I can join in a re-read. Unfortunately, here in the US the books are NOT narrated by Stephen Fry.

(view spoiler)[ that troll sounds scary and poor Hermione got locked in the bathroom by Harry and Ron because they thought they were defeating the Troll but instead they locked Hermione in there with it. I'm glad they came to help her but it's their fault or should I say Ron that she was in the bathroom in the first place. Boys are mean! I love Hermione she just wants to be great and she reads a lot so she can be good! (hide spoiler)]

80% End of Ch. 14: Poor Hagrid! (view spoiler)[ He had to get rid of his dragon! but who gave it to me and why? a game of cards? a stranger? it sounds fishy! Malfoy needs to stop being a bully and get with the program. I'm glad Harry didn't get reprimanded for using his broom to fly to catch Neville's present from his grandma, instead he was made into one of the most important players in the quidditch game. The seeker. I loved the christmas presents, even the Dursleys sent him money and that cloak of invisibility is perfect. (hide spoiler)]

Finished... Wow so much to unpack. Snape was actually trying to (view spoiler)[ help Harry. Snape and Harry's father were like Malfoy and Harry, they didn't like each other, but Harry's father saved Snape so he is now trying to help Harry in order to repay Harry's father. I loved that Dumbledore explained things to Harry. It was crazy that Voldemort was in the forest and that Quirrell is the one actually helping him get the sorcerer's stone for eternal life. I like that Harry was saved by Dumbledore and that he told Harry that his mother loved Harry so much that that is why Voldemort wasn't able to kill Harry. I teared up a bit. I was sad about the unicorn. I liked the Centaurs! I hope we get to see more of them. (hide spoiler)]

re-reading this book really does feel like a warm hug. I love how quirky dumbledore is in this book. Getting the cloak and sneaking around lol. And I love Neville so much!
