July 2019: Zero Sum Game

Hi, everyone. Sorry for posting this thread late. This thread is for our July 2019 book club pick, Zero Sum Game by S.L. Huang. It'll be refreshing to jump into a thriller again. As always, we'd love to hear what everyone else feels about the book here.

In the podcast, the hosts asked who we think should play the characters in a movie, and I would vote Filipino action-adventure actor, Robin Padilla, to play Rio. Rio speaks Tagalog in the book, so I would assume that he's Filipino - though the Tagalog he does speak seems to be gibberish: "Sumasampalataya ako sa iyong tsarera" translates, I think, into "I believe in your teapot," so that's unusual. Caveat: I'm Fil Am with limited Tagalog skills, so I may be missing a cultural turn of phrase there.

In general, really enjoyed the book.
