What were your favorite parts of the book? What did you like most?

I loved the book, one of my favorites of the year. I enjoyed the twists and turns that kept me guessing. Some bits rang true in my own professional career. Especially some of the things, actions, processes, procedures, routines I go through, sometimes without even a thought, as a woman in the workplace that the book made me shake my head about realizing I did it too. I thought it might have been heavy handed about the social commentary of #metoo and was glad it wasn't. Great summer read!

For me, I loved the statements from the interviews with the Detectives and Cossette Sharpe- it heightened the mystery, gave us just a bit of info from the future but raising more questions and I liked the style it was written in too. That deposition-style writing is what kept me pushing through the book, even when my interest was flagging in the early stages. Once Ames kills himself, the story really picked up and I couldn’t put it down. Read most of the book over an evening.

This was an enjoyable read, and I enjoyed the way it was written. The deposition writing throughout the book made it read smoothly. I also liked the way the chapters started, an few sentences generalizing issues that women in the work place have, like being made to feel less than after returning from maternity leave. I thought it made the read more special when Chandler Baker described her experiences with harassment in the epilogue, and how she used this book to tell her story.

Overall, I enjoyed the book although not my typical read. I enjoyed the different character views, and the depositions did add some clues to string you along. Then main parts of the ending were somewhat predictable, although the Ardie/Katherine twist regarding Ames was far fetched in my opinion.

I really liked this book. I liked how all the characters perspectives and concerns were shared with the reader. I completely related to the characters about being a mom and working. It’s really difficult to find the balance of success with yourself being a working mom no matter your position.

I really liked this book. even in the fact of women in power and they have so many things going on in their lives while trying to compete in a men's world.

I just finished this yesterday. I really like it. I liked the format and the interspersing with the "factual" documents. I especially liked the evolution of the character of Rosalita.

Not my favorite at all. It seemed all over the place. And the writing made me think this was the debut novel for the author. The plot was also too slow or too fast at times - it never really caught its' groove.
