Soloman Khan | 1 comments I read this series at some point between 2013-2015. They were ebooks, I don’t know if they were published on paper. They seemed to have modern language, so they were likely from 10-20 years before I read them. I realize that’s a large range, sorry if it is unhelpful, just a guess on my part. I think the original language was English, can’t remember where it was published.
**Many Spoilers ahead**

The plot I can remember is as follows—the galaxy (or universe) is under threat from an undead plague which is vulnerable to silver. The living are losing. On one planet, a human soldier is the epicentre of an expanding sphere that destroys countless undead and saves that specific world for a decade or two. He is nicknamed “the Destroyer” and imprisoned and experimented on, but eventually rescued by an elf woman, and they fall in love. At some point years in the future, after the luster has fallen off their relationship and their planet is under siege again, the two of them take in siblings, a boy and a girl. For some reason, after this the older man is separated from the other three, learns to master his ability which he has not been able to reproduce, and begins a journey of travelling between worlds, destroying them, and going to new ones in order to destroy the source of the plague.

The undead plague is controlled by a giant god-like undead tree whose root system covers the planet it is on (separate from the planet of the first paragraph). It was once the home of the elves when it was alive, but when it died it became the guiding intelligence of the plague. The plague used to be controlled by a race mentioned in the topic, possibly called the Makars or Makari, who created the plague and wanted to spread it for some reason. The elves fled the planet and possibly were the founders of an organization dedicated to fighting the plague. The organization was made of many different species, and they used some kind of magic called “halos” which were balls of light that surrounded them, to protect themselves and people they rescued. They may have been associated with the idea of gods, or called the “Gods”, I’m not sure. An important figure in the organization during the books was a kindly old man whose name may have been Amon. It definitely started with “A”.

There was species on another planet, also mentioned in the topic, who were gnomes or very similar to gnomes in height. They were highly advanced, technologically, and knew that their planet would be wiped out by the undead plague, so they sent a ship full of their people in stasis out to space, to find a new planet not threatened by the plague, possibly to begin the war again. The ship was controlled by an AI, which may have been named Argus or Argos, and maintenance was done by one gnome, who stayed awake while the others were in stasis and so developed a very close relationship to Argus. The gnome eventually causes the ship to crash on the world of the first paragraph, without Argus’ consent, and steals the ship’s stockpile of silver to distribute to the population so the plague can be fought more effectively. This gnome eventually encounters the elf woman and the siblings of the first paragraph, under an intimidating name like “Wrath”, I think. The gnome is the leader of a gang or criminal organization. I can’t remember what happens exactly, but I think they ally because the planet is under siege by the plague. Argus eventually wakes up the rest of the gnomes with the intent of getting revenge on the gnome who deserted it. Eventually, a beautifully female gnome who the first gnome was enamored with, despite her being in stasis, captures him and brings him to the ship.

There was also a period during the plot which was from the point of view of the Makars before they developed the plague, in which they were a race of researchers who developed the plot for some reason that wasn’t mass slaughter at first, but something better like scientific progress. I don’t remember exactly, just that they weren’t evil. There was a big tower on a stormy desert world that was the site of Makar research, as they did not know who made the tower or what it was for. This same tower was the subject of something like a vision quest for the human soldier of the first paragraph, after which he unlocked his power and began to destroy planets.

Note** I can’t remember much about timelines, except that the Destroyer’s origin was after the gnomes and elves lost their homes, and the organization of “Gods” was established. I’m sorry if I gave confusing details, it’s all a mush in my head. The titles were short, I believe, and had to do with shadows or darkness. The cover art was space and stars.

You've given some great details. If you keep this towards the top of the folder, someone should surely recognize it.
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 85 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
