Running through a park, a young woman late for work at her milliner's job see's a duel in process. She runs through the scene causing one of the men to be injured. She loses her job and ends up living in his home, nursing him back to health because he says it was her fault. Later, he offers her a position as his mistress, with a house and servants of her own.
