What's even more amazing than reading? Reading and getting prizes for it! The Library offers summer reading programs for readers of all ages, from babies to adults. Kids get a free book, a fine waiver card, and free Andy's Frozen Custard, Fazoli's, and more. Adults age 18 and older will receive a library book bag after reading five books, and each book read earns an entry into drawings for seven gift sets. The program runs through August 3, so there's plenty of time to get started at thelibrary.org/universe if you haven't already.

The theme of the 2019 program is Universe of Stories, so we're celebrating all things space this summer. There are many fun space-related events going on at every branch; visit thelibrary.org/programs for more information.

Now, we want to know: What's your favorite book that takes place in outer space? Or have you read a great nonfiction book about space? Here are a few that library staff have enjoyed:

Fiction

Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse, #1) by James S.A. Corey Leviathan Wakes

The Martian by Andy Weir The Martian

Mooncop by Tom Gauld Mooncop

Space Case (Moon Base Alpha #1) by Stuart Gibbs Space Case

Nonfiction
