This is a must read for those interested in the foundations of modern economics and politics. And it's an entertaining read. It also delineates the contributions of the different cultures that framed much of pre-modern Asia and the Middle East; of Persia, Greece, China and the culture of the Steppes.

...but Vroman's won Bookseller of the Year 2008! Publishers Weekly announced the award this morning, and we've all been going nuts celebrating. I'm drunk right now...on joy, that is! Ha ha.
(Okay, I'm going to stop this now before I really get stupid.)
Anyway, thanks so much to all of our customers and various associates. Without you, we'd be nothing.

Thank you Joyce. You have convinced me and I will hunt out this book - probably from my local library.
Hey! Just heard the news. Am so, so very proud of you all! What a huge, huge, huge smile on my face right now. Congrats to all you all! You rock!!!!
Yeah, we owe you one, Marshall. It's a shame you weren't there for the champagne soaked celebration Tuesday morning. I wore swimming goggles like Big Papi after the World Series.
Thanks for the congratulations everybody, and thanks again for shopping with us. Stop by sometime, and I'll thank you in person.
