Did anyone else feel bad for Lara?

Miranda Moore There aren't many posts about this character and I just felt so damn bad for her in the novel. Pudge cheats on her with Alaska and then ignores her for a while. I mean I knew that he should have never gotten with Lara because he was so fixated on Alaska. When I read that part all I could think was "Ugh."

I don't think Pudge really "loved" Alaska as much as he was turned on by her "enigma" personality. I couldn't like Alaska either because she was the one that wanted to hook Lara and Pudge up in the first place and then turns around and makes out with him. I honestly think Pudge and Lara could have worked if Pudge would have woken up and saw the truth.

But what are your thoughts?

Erin Craig-mcfeely yes! it's like, one of your close friend's just died and your boyfriend is ignoring you and you have no shoulder to cry on and uh.
I wouldn't have left it up to my roommate to kick him in the balls I would have done it myself!

riley !! I felt horrible for Lara. It already felt like she was an outcast with Alaska, and she just died and her boyfriend plain out ignores her like she doesn't exist. Like, if you're not together, so be it. But Pudge needs to grow up and get a little over himself, because I think it was quite obvious that if he loved Alaska, he didn't know what love was. He liked the idea of love, and she was mysterious. He was curious, and really stupid if you want my opinion. Lara could have worked something out with him if he didn't take things too far. Maybe if he took a few steps down to the surface, and stopped playing the circus act with Alaska, things would work out and Lara would feel a lot more appreciated.

Yes, Riley, that is exactly what I thought. Erin, yes, I think I would have been happier if Lara had been the one doing the kicking.
