Laurie Mensah she did an out of site out of mind and that really damaged him. She should have been reached out to him to at least give closure to their situation.

agree with your point

Adalie I think I was pretty annoyed with how much her name was being repeated in the book.

bookswithsonali ahh! I’m so late to this but...ugly love is one of my favorite books. I’m so in love with Miles Archer and Tate. But I absolutely cannot stand Rachel.

Even before everything happened, I felt like she was so freaking selfish, and even more so after things fell apart between her and Miles.

Miles didn’t deserve what he went through, but he most definitely didn’t deserve all the crap he got afterwards, especially not from her.

I can see that she was hurting, but it was just so frustrating that Miles had to go through all of that. I felt like he was making so many freaking sacrifices for her, even when she was doing nothing for him.

When I re-read Ugly Love, every single time, I get so frustrated reading the parts, especially in Miles POV, because of Rachel.

UGH SOMEONE PLEASE. I feel so bad but I don’t at the same time.

Skye Sancerni For starters, I hated Rachel. But to be honest my issue isn’t with Rachel. Miles went through something terrible and he had no closure, but he still treated Tate terribly. Tate tried so hard to love Miles, but he made her feel like she was just a f*ck. Miles was broken, but he still treated Tate like crap. While I was reading the book, I wanted Tate to leave Miles the entire time, (until the end). Tate deserved better, no one deserves to be treated the way that she was.

I wasn't angry at her but I do agree that she didn't deserve Miles. But I'm glad that she's happy as well

minty At first I kind of understood why Rachel blamed Miles: she was in shock. She had just lost something so precious in her life, and she was angry at herself and Miles for losing that. However, when she left him, I was pretty pissed at her. If she loved Miles as much as she said she did, Rachel should have stayed by his side and gone through this challenge together as a married couple. But besides that, Rachel also should have contacted Miles after getting with Brad so that he could move on as well, but instead just left him to become the shell of the person Tate had to deal with. But either way, Rachel still was a very important part of Miles’ life and character.

Evan Rountree 100%. Rachel completely destroyed his life for 6 years!!

Sophialovesbooksalatte I think that Rachel was wrong for blaming Miles for the death of their child and making him feel horrible. Still, I sympathize with her, since loosing a baby must certainly be a terrible experience, knowing that you could not protect your child, but nevertheless what Rachel did to Miles was wrong on so many levels. Back when all of this happened she was young, however, you would expect that her as an adult would contact Miles to apologize and make sure that he was happy, as we know Rachel did not do that. It is a big amount of trauma, yes, but when she was able to overcome it Rachel should have checked in on Miles. All this time, while Miles told himself that he could not love someone else for the rest of his life and was living with the burden of guilt, Rachel moved on, without reaching out to him in order to apologize. In my point of view, Rachel suffered a lot, but that was no excuse to treat Miles the way she did, especially when Rachel knew she acted badly.

Sampreeti Yes! This is so true, Miles was suffering 6 years while she got ,married, had another kid and found a stable lifestyle and a reason to be happy again. This was just cruel towards Miles because he shut down, blaming himself for the accident and the death of their child when really it wasn't his fault. He tried to save them both and did what he could in that moment and she made him go through pain and hurt for six years. Thats too cruel.

Katie Valus Patty wrote: "Through the entire book, I thought Rachel was this sweet girl. But in the end I was completely angry with her for not reaching out to Miles when she found she could live again. By blaming him, she ..."
I agree! Miles clearly had emotional damage and was brought closer to getting over It by getting "forgiveness" from Rachel all these years later. He did not deserve to suffer for so long for the accident.

Amina I dont hate her, but I didn't like her from day one. I wish the book had atleast given us a bit more about why Miles fell in love with Rachel and vice versa. I think both of his relationships seemed to be based only on attraction. Tate and him made sense since there's was an agreement to be physical. However, Rachel and him have no back story.

message 63: by Leni (new)

Leni I mean I kinda agree and think that Rachel should have reached out when she moved on but also she shouldn’t have to make miles feel better he should have went to therapy.Rachel was a mother and she also lost her child and after years like we saw got over if miles had went to therapy he would have gotten over it too and wouldn’t need rachel to tell him that it’s not his fault and that he has to move on

Giordelys yes, cause first off when they finally revealed basically meaning of the cover and miles tried to save them both and couldn't save his son and rachel acted as if she was the only person that lost him just really insensitive and then had the audacity 6 years later to say "i was young okay"

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL, why I am just seeing this after I read. Yes, I for sure agree like what the hell, I just I don't yes I for sure get angry about that.

Sammie Val🧸💐🤍 i don't like Rachel 🤷‍♀️ she just entirely blamed him for everything then let him suffer for YEARS while she ultimately moved on and became happy again, while just leaving him in the dust to continue thinking everything was his fault. you would think at some point during all those years she would have checked up on him.

message 67: by gabi (new) - rated it 4 stars

gabi this is what i thought too!! like fighting and blaming him and then living and just being fine after breaking him?? like if he never went to her he would have probably never been okay again. i was so mad.

message 68: by Sazzadul (new) - added it

Sazzadul Islam I was never disappointed on Rachel throughout the whole story and even if after finishing the book.
I have seen many girls who are in same kinda toxic relationship. If they read the they can understand how fool they are.

Maham I loved Miles and Rachel at first and actually disliked Tate but my opinions changed on Rachel when she failed to see Miles also lost his son too and she was acting as if she was the only one hurting. I get she was young and vulnerable but she abandoned Miles in middle of a very tough situation.

alixia mendoza i was upset at rachel.. don't get me wrong she could grief.. but she moved on from the death of her child and created an entirely new family but then never thought to reach out to miles and liberate him from guilt.. don't get me wrong i hate miles but it wasn't fair for him.

ADHEENA Rachel never even tried to understand that Miles was going through the same trauma as her..She pushed him away and worsened his situation(after all,all he did was try to save his partner and kid,it's so not his fault that he was unsuccessful)..She destroyed him so much that he was not even able to accept Tate for who she was or what she did to him.She had a strong support system but poor Miles was on his own..I strongly resent her for not reaching out to Miles after she has straightened her life out..6 years was a long miserable time

message 72: by Natalie (new) - added it

Natalie Bro... I didn't like her at all. Not even at the beginning. Of course, I'm pretty sure this is because I saw Rachel as Tate's competition and Tate is our mc soooo....

Sydney Dales I imagined her looking like a girl would would have a resting b-face. The entire book i was like "What girl would make a man not love or allow to love anymore?" I couldn't stand her overall character, hate her so much with all my heart.

message 74: by Bokang (new) - added it

Bokang Rachel is selfish and manipulative. She ruined Miles' life by blaming him for everything that transpired at the lake that night and left to live her best life, leaving Miles broken and guilty and underserving of anything good life could offer him. I never liked her from the first mention of her name in the book because what kind of person hurts another so much that they believe they can no longer love or be loved

message 75: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat Yes. ME. Why did she blamed Miles while she didnt do ANYTHING

Lacie When I read this I thought that Rachel was just a regular girl but the further you read the further you notice how rude she is. At the end of the book and through out you find out that Rachel ghosted miles and then had a kid named after the dead baby. WHAT! she didn't even tell miles about this until HE went to her. She was acting so immature and that lead to Miles entire life to be depressing and full of despair. That is why I DESPISE Rachel with my whole heart.

Lacie Wil Loves Books! wrote: "Yineth wrote: "yes I was not happy with her not because of her reaction because as a mom I understand her but at the fact that she should have reached out to him and absolved him of the guilt he wa..."

She never said anything to miles to help him in his time of grief while she abanded him to start a new family its to selfish your right.

Syd Patty wrote: "Through the entire book, I thought Rachel was this sweet girl. But in the end I was completely angry with her for not reaching out to Miles when she found she could live again. By blaming him, she ..."

I don't know, if I was in her shoes, I wouldn't have reached out either. She might have been thinking that by reaching out she was reopening this wound for Miles. It was hard for them both. I don't think it's right to call her mean for not wanting to reach out but I get what you're saying by not taking the blame off of him; that was pretty cruel. I think it was a wound they both wanted to scab over and fall off but the difference was that miles kept picking at it.

Valthereader I agree with all of you who are mad at Rachel. Not once had she thought oh wait it's not Miles's fault and I should say sorry to him about what happened because I'm the only one hurting or even Oh I think Miles and I should meet up once because we need to catch up. Like come on Rachel you are living an amazing life that you love but you left Miles heartbroken and sad so badly that he struggled with his love life and everything that makes him happy almost.

message 80: by Maye (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maye Calpo I was mad at her. Isn't she unfair? Miles suffered because Rachel left her and their child died, so he never got to find love and happiness. I mean, Rachel should've been his comfort and partner.

message 81: by Lu (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lu Just finished this book. Loved it. But I think Rachel didn't truly love Miles... I cannot comprehend how she never got back to him and why was she still blaming him after so many years... doesn't seem like she cared about him much at all...
