ABANDONED. Fantasy/Magic. A group with magical abilities acts as law keepers and protectors. All people carry around a book with their life story written in it and someone the villians are able to change peoples books which was thought impossible.

I believe I heard about this book in either late 2018 or early 2019. I remember a vague blurb about people with powers acting as protectors against general crimes and other threats. Every person carries a book with the details of their life written in it but I am unsure if it is a full telling of their life or their life up to the present. People are being attacked, killed, or otherwise harmed by a group who has found a way to change the contents of the book that all persons carry that has the contents of their life written in it.

Sounds like the Alexandria Library novels by Rachel Caine...Ink and Bone is the first in the series.

I looked that title up and while I'm now going to read it I do not believe that is the book I am thinking of.
