l Know Who You Are is the brilliant tale of two stories. One is about Aimee Sinclair—well-known actress on the verge of being full-on famous. If you saw her, you’d think you knew her. One day towards the near-end of her shoot on her latest film, Aimee comes home from filming to find her husband’s cell phone and wallet on the dining room table. He never goes anywhere without them. But he’s nowhere to be found. She’s not too concerned—they had a huge fight the night before. They both said things they didn’t mean. He might have done things he didn’t mean, things she can’t forget. Even though she has a history of supposedly forgetting. After all, she’s a very good actress.

The next morning she goes for her morning run and then goes to her favorite coffee shop. But her card is denied. When she calls the bank they say her account has been emptied of $10,000. She immediately suspects her husband. But they say no, it was Aimee herself who closed out the account. And thus begins a bizarre rabbit hole into which Aimee finds herself falling where nothing is at it seems.

Alternating with Aimee’s story is that of a little girl who wandered away from home. We always tell our kids not to talk to strangers or bad things will happen. Well, bad things happen.

In I Know Who You Are, Alice Feeney proves that she is a master at brilliantly complicated plots and twists after twists.

I haven't read anything by this author, although I have another book of hers on my list.
I just checked my library and was able to get the Ebook today! So I am going to join you. The reviews seem mixed on this so I am curious to see how it is.

Are we going to read at our own pace and use spoiler tags?

I'm glad you'll be joining us, Vicki! I listened to her previous book Sometimes I Lie on audiobook and enjoyed it. The mixed reviews for this one are a little concerning but I'm definitely willing to give it a shot.

I just finished chpt 25 and (view spoiler)[ I like Aimee's backstory as well. What do you think happened to the original Aimee? Did the parents kill her? Also, do you think John is a pedophile? She mentioned him taking photos of her in the bath and on the bed...super creepy.

At first I thought Aimee (in 2017) killed her husband and she was trying to trick the reader into believing she didn't know what happened to him. But now i'm not so sure. If what she describes is true, then it definitely seems like her husband is capable of trying to frame her for his murder.

Did you catch the end of chapter three where Aimee admits to the reader she's killed someone? "tell them that I haven't killed anyone. But I don't do that. Because it isn't true. I have." If she didn't kill her husband, then who did she kill? Maggie? (hide spoiler)]

Just finished chapter 28, page 115. This book is bit spooky at times! (view spoiler)[

I don't think Maggie would have killed the original Aimee, Jenna; her love is twisted but in a messed up way I think she cares about Aimee (both original and new). Maybe she sick and died though? Or she was kidnapped because John did tell Ciara, "She disappeared"? John is disturbing btw.


I suspected Aimee of having a part in Ben's disappearance, too... After all she possibility has memory blocks..? But now, I think more likely it was Ben. But to do all that...he must really want to make her suffer for trying to leave him!... (hide spoiler)]

Vicki, I also think it was very likely it was her mother's death she was talking about. However, Jenna, I do think that Aimee Sinclair did something really terrible back in the eighties/(or nineties) and is hiding it. It could very well be having a hand in Maggie's death. But whatever the secret is, I think it's big enough that someone wants revenge for it (and I think that's her stalker). What do you both think about her stalker? (hide spoiler)]

I don't think John can control his wife. Maybe she did accidentally hurt the old Aimee.

I don't know what to think about the stalker unless it is the old Aimee somehow. Or Maggie because Aimee got away from her.
And I don't know what to think about Ben. I hope it isn't something non related or out in left field though. (hide spoiler)]

Ok, I finished...

Wow! I didn't see THAT coming (view spoiler)[her brother was the stalker! And was pretending to be Maggie. That is why Maggie seemed so different. during her parts.
Am I right in assuming her unborm baby could (or could not ) be the brother's? And she didn't get caught or tell anyone (including Jack) about what happened?
and what happened to Alicia? Did she do something to her? (hide spoiler)]

I don't know what to think. On one hand, it must have been a good book for me if I finished it in just a few days. I did want to keep picking it up to see what happened.

I really liked (view spoiler)[ Aimee's backstory and the parts of the book from when she was a child. That by far was my favorite part.
And also her unreliability as an adult. How she was so insecure and caught up in her own head. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't so much like (view spoiler)[towards to end when "Maggie" became the narrator. I thought it was confusing and incomplete feeling. Even knowing it was the brother, which was a great twist, it just didn't flow right.
And the whole ending... so the police just let it go and she was never found out? (hide spoiler)]

All finished; I stayed up late last night reading this! This book went a whole other direction from what I thought it would. I had a lot of fun reading this with you both :)


(view spoiler)[ The end of chapter forty-five, when Maggie and John are both shot and Ciara is alone is such a powerful part of the book. Maggie is crazy and twisted and John's a criminal but still it leaves Ciara by herself in England and torn apart with guilt from just killing the three men and losing her "parents".


I really liked reading her backstory, too, Vicki, and I agree with you both about having "Maggie" as a narrator; it was very weird and confusing.


I just about went into shock when we found out that her stalker, "Maggie" is her husband who is her brother who married her. The end was terrifying when we find out about his plans for Ciara and when he traps her... So insane but an awesome thriller for sure...

Yet, one thing I would have liked was if the book had gone more in depth into what happened in Ireland and what the police really know. I feel like a lot of details are missing, and that would be awesome spot to add to the story.

Altogether, a crazy book but one that I enjoyed! And I love the end when Ciara says, "My name is Aimee Sinclair. I'm that girl you thought you knew but don't know where from. I think you're remember me now. Sometimes I Kill."
