Justin Malme | 11 comments Listed as 725, when it should be 352.

Emily | 17612 comments Do the pages start numbering in the hundreds or do they start at 1 (without any introductory pages)?

Justin Malme | 11 comments The Page count pics up where the first book leaves off, but the book itself only has 352 pages.

Emily | 17612 comments OK, a previous librarian edit says "The maps may carry on for some pages but the text goes from page 403 to page 725 -- 322 book pages in total."

From the librarian manual:
Page numbers should match the page numbers as listed in the book. If a book begins on page 6, for example, do not subtract from the final page count to determine the "actual" number of pages – simply list the number on the last page with countable content.

So the current page count appears correct, despite not having that actual amount of pages.
EDIT:
Unless there are maps, etc. after page 725.

Justin Malme | 11 comments I think that part from the Librarian Manual you listed is referring to books that might not start on page 1, but page 1 is included in that specific book. I don't think it applies in a scenario where 3 books with 3 separate ISBN's utilize a running page count across all 3 books (and hence dealing with 1 printed page 1 and 3 physical page 1's). Just my opinion, since the current way it is listed isn't really accurate.

Justin Malme | 11 comments The Librarian Manual States " If the publisher provides a specific page count, that number should be reflected in our book data"

The Publisher lists this book with a page count of 352.

Justin Malme | 11 comments Publisher is Mariner Books, which is a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

That's a good point. Another librarian can weigh in.

I think that part is aimed at ebooks, because there is no reliable source for those besides the publisher.

Justin Malme | 11 comments But if the publisher is a reliable source, why wouldn't we use what they list for the page count of their physical books, especially when it matches what everyone else (e.g. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, other retailers) is listing for page count?

I just mean the Goodreads page number policy might dictate something else for books like this. Someone else will come along and let us know soon.

Miriam | 1831 comments Based on what Rivka has said before, the page number for this book would be 725 (since that is what is actually listed in the book).
