Dora Christine Fisher | 122 comments What I remember about this book is the family was good to her and I believe they had a younger boy than her that was also a servitude that she become friends with. She becomes to love the land of Virginia. There is Indian problems around them.

Kristen Miller | 2 comments Could it possibly be set in Maine? It reminded me of the novel Calico Bush.

Lillian | 30 comments The Iron Peacock? It’s not set in Virginia, but the premise is similar. A Lion to Guard Us could also be it.

Dora Christine Fisher | 122 comments the more I think back about this book The More I start remembering some details. She actually sails with her parents heading for America and during the voyage her parents die and that's why she has to become a indentured servant in Virginia to a family that was pretty much kind to her. There was a younger boy that was also an indentured servant to this family. It was definitely in Virginia. She ends up falling in love with a young man towards the end and loving the land of Virginia even though there was Indians that they had to beware of. I thought the author was Catherine B. Cooney at one time but looking through her books I cannot find this one so it's possibly not the one who wrote it.
