Goodreads librarian here. Your problem is what we call disambiguation. This is what is needed when authors have the same name. On Goodreads disambiguation is done by adding spaces between the first and last name. This is not ideal, but it's what we do. If there really are only two authors that go by L. Benitez, then you probably have two spaces between L. and Benitez. When you are adding the book, you need to remember that, so your book doesn't end up on the wrong profile.If you would like to end that problem by calling yourself Lily Benitez, you need to realize that Goodreads goes by the name on the cover of the book. Lily Benitez needs to be on the cover of the book for it to count.

Just a little tip for next time, L...Load your author profile and look under your list of books for the line, "* Note: these are all the books on Goodreads for this author. To add more, click here." Clicking there will take you to the "Add a New Book" page with your author name already filled in, complete with the correct number of spaces to get the book on the right profile. :)

I've written a short story that I'll be publishing on Amazon soon and I'd like to get the goodreads page for it started. I know that I'll have to go in and manually add my book which is where my wondering comes in.
The first (and only) time I put my book into goodreads, the site said that a completely different author wrote my book and I accidentally added that book to the author's name. I think this is because when I first joined goodreads I was Lily Benitez and I listed it as L. Benitez, who happened to be the name of the mistaken author.
Anyway, I got the book to be in my name and listed as my work but I don't remember how I did it. I kinda went into panic mode (SOMEONE ELSE IS LISTED AS THE AUTHOR, AAAAHHH) and clicked a lot around the site. Lol.
Is there an easier way to add your book? Maybe I completely missed a button or something? I really wouldn't like a repeat of last time xD
