I only read the first few chapters. Girl stays with her dad during summer in another state(possibly washington). She and her dad go to her dad's friend's house one night for dinner. Her dad's friend is also the dad of her childhood friend who is a boy. Her friend has changed and does not want to interact with her. They all have plans to go camping in a forest but the boy does not want her to come. While in the forest, she finds out that he has special abilities. I can't exactly remember what but I think it has something to do with his skin. I read it in German but I think it is originally an American book.

Was this a children's book or YA?How old were the boy and girl?

It was a ya book. The characters were probably 16-19 years old. I could not find it on kindle books, but I found an audiobook on youtube but I can't find it anymore. Also, I just remember the boy had a sort of seizure in the forest, and I think they said something about him having the ability to run abnormally fast.
