The book starts off with him in a magical school.
The mages all have to follow some magical rules such as not harming none-mages, they call them selves gifted instead of mages.

His love interest is called Asha i believe.
There is also a magical wall keeping an army of monsters out of the world.

I read the first two books around 2015 - 2016. I'm wondering if the third book has come out yet but have forgotten the series name.
