Jennifer Hallock | 6 comments Can you please revise/add to my Sugar Sun series page? Here are the details below:

Series page: https://www.goodreads.com/series/2022...

Book #1: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Book #2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Book #3: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Book #4: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

The last one, Sugar Moon, is the book that needs to be added to the series.

Thank you!

Lieke | 4925 comments According to the blurb Hotel Oriente is the prequel novella to Under the Sugar Sun, is this correct?
Hotel Oriente and Tempting Hymn are novella's and will get a decimal numbering according to GR rules, but I can change the order if needed.

Added Sugar Moon to the series.

Thank you, Lieke. I wish that I could make the numbers match Amazon's to prevent reader confusion, but they do not accept decimal numbering. In that case, I think what you have done makes good sense within the Goodreads world. (To answer your question, Hotel Oriente is a prequel novella, but I do not bill it first on Amazon because the series is best read in publication order. Folks here, though, might want it listed as a prequel.) In any case, including Sugar Moon is a significant improvement. Thank you!

Miriam | 1831 comments I put a note that the author recommends reading in publication order, with a listing of the books as you listed in msg. 1 here on the series page. That should help with some of the confusion between the series numbering here and on Amazon

Outstanding, Miriam, thank you! Thanks to both you and Lieke for helping me out. You guys are doing a great service to both readers and authors.

Jennifer Hallock | 6 comments Hello, amazing Goodreads librarians! To make matters more confusing, I have unpublished Hotel Oriente in anticipation of releasing a revised edition. Therefore, it makes sense to remove the note at the top of the series page so that readers do not feel the need to read Hotel Oriente to move on in the series. (It is unnecessary to any larger story line of the series. Only the location ties it in.) Would a revised author note make sense, or just to remove it altogether? Thank you for your advice!

Since it is a published work, and part of the series, we would not remove it. But we can add a revised note.

Jennifer Hallock | 6 comments Thanks, Rivka. I have added a note on the book blurb, as per the Goodreads guide I found. Maybe just remove the original author's note on the series page and state instead:

"Per author: The prequel novella Hotel Oriente is temporarily unavailable and will be revised and re-released at a future date. Its tie to the rest of the series was solely location, so this change will not affect reading the other books in any way. Under the Sugar Sun remains the best place to start."

Thank you, librarians!
