Keri | 1873 comments Oh you’re right because if we post for two tasks under a suspect, and then we get told that is the suspect, we don’t want to have wasted books on other suspect tasks that may have fit some of the weapon or place tasks so we could get those matched up for reveals. Right?

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I don't think anything is revealed until you guess a S, W and P??? Let me check the rules.

message 53: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments The conclusions will be one S, one W, and one P just like in the normal game. Once a team finishes both of the two categories for a S/W/P, during a score update I will have all of the S,W, & P listed and will cross them out as you go. If you should guess correctly I will comment in your teams chat thread that you have successfully guessed the S/W/P and you can cease completing categories for the remaining S/W/P.

It's a tiny big ambiguous. In the game I think you have to have all three so I think you have to have all three for this as well?

message 54: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments I think I should have played the board game of CLUE because I never have and I’m always confused during CLUE challenges, but I just read my books. LOL So should I move my claimed books into the banked books tab and when I’m finished wait to post them?

I think we should use the SS and not just the review thread. It makes it so much easier to know what’s been used and what’s still needed.

message 55: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments You can leave the claimed books in the Clue One tab for now. But wait to post them until we might need them.

I agree but not everyone will keep up with it and not everyone can easily access it. So just keep an eye on the review thread too before reading a book or posting.

message 56: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments Anna, by “wait to post them” do you mean don’t put them in the review thread?

message 57: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (last edited Jun 30, 2019 08:14PM) (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Yes. Let me see if I can explain completely in a way that makes sense.

So right now we have several people reading for each category. We only need two of each so 6 books.

If all of us read for suspect first we will have an imbalance. We want 2 S, 2 W and 2 P. So the first people to read 2 S that match get to post those etc. The others will be 'banked' till we have two matching W and P as well. Then we will 'guess'. If the answer is wrong. We will start over till we get it right.

Does that make sense?

message 58: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments I am sorry but I just want to make sure I get this. So we should only do one S/W/P at a time so that we don't waste any books?

message 59: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments And if we are only posing certain reviews at a time, should we say when we are posting a certain book?

message 60: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

That's what I think. We don't have to do it if it's too complicated. I just don't want to waste any books. The rules clearly state you can't move books from one round to another.

To reiterate, BOOKS CANNOT BE MOVED ONCE THEY ARE COUNTED FOR POINTS! If you want to move a book around before I post scores you must comment again on your review thread what you want to switch it to. But once scores are updated and your book is counted towards a certain category there is no changing it.

Yes. If you can. :)

message 62: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments I get it now thx

message 63: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments Anna, that clarifies it for me very well. Thank you. :)

message 64: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Glad I was able to explain it. In my head it makes sense but then you try to explain it to someone else and it sometimes becomes gobbly gook. lol. I really hope I understand how this work. Both team challenges this time a super complicated so it's hard but it will be really fun to play. :)

message 65: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments I know what you mean, Anna. I just get so darned confused and I always (a lot anyway) feel like a pest asking so many questions, but I love being on teams and I'm normally very participatory. So I ask away and let myself be embarrassed. I think you're brave and you do a great job!

message 66: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments Lol same for me Vicki! And also I think I get it now, originally didn’t realize you need all 3 at once to guess. I thought you just got two for something then were told if that was in the conclusion or not. I think you’re right that having played the board game Clue would have helped lol
I think this will be complicated but really fun!
I’ll keep adding to the spreadsheet but asking in here first if I should post or not in the review thread before I do.
I’m one with limited non-mobile access so I may need to ask for one of you to add to the spreadsheet for me on occasion.

message 67: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments You don't need to post your books in certain orders.

You just post them. And then when you finish the two subcategories for either the suspect, weapon, or place in your conclusion I will let you know and that is when you can stop posting books for whatever one you completed.

Does that make sense?

message 68: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments So, since we have to guess all 3 at the same time, if we only get on right, would we know?

message 69: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments You do not need to guess all at the same time.

You will read books. Whatever books you want. And you will fill in the subcategories on the SS. When you post them to the review thread you will write what subcategory you are using them for. I will keep track of which ones you post.

If you post one subcategory today and another teammate posts the second subcategory five days from now, that is when you'll find out if that category is a part of your conclusion. If it is not, you will continue reading to find the conclusion.

You only have to read books and pick the categories. I do the rest.

message 70: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Sorry for the confusion guys. I obviously am still confused despite so many kind people explaining it. I'm just going to read my books and let ya'll post them where they are needed. :(

message 71: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments Oh that’s cool we can get the answer right away when we have two categories for a suspect or whatever and don’t need the two categories for one of each to find out :-)

message 72: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments I still think it could benefit to fill in spreadsheet and just post to review when we have two so if we do get the suspect or something, then if books we choose for other suspect topics could also be used for weapon tasks instead we can move them around. What do you guys think? If that’s to complicated no biggie.
Even if we get our conclusion we would have some other ones already have done for conclusion 2 so it’s probably good either way lol

message 73: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments I finished one of my books and added it to the SS but didn't post it on the review thread. That's what I'm supposed to do, right?

Also, Trisha (not on our team) asked me to BR it but I saw her request after I'd finished it. If we still buddy read it/do a discussion on the book, will I still get the extra points?

message 74: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I think we should go ahead and post because we’ll get more points that way. But I would wait until the BR thread is up so you can claim the extra points.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments Keri wrote: "I still think it could benefit to fill in spreadsheet and just post to review when we have two so if we do get the suspect or something, then if books we choose for other suspect topics could also ..."

LOL I think we all are all over the place! But what's funny is that I think this makes sense! I'm posting only on the SS for now. I finished one book and my review is ready to go when the other subcategory is done. I think it does make sense to TRY to coordinate the books prior to posting just so that like Anna said, we won't "waste" any books so to speak. For now, mine go on the SS and the captain can move at her will! Aye aye, Captain!

message 76: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments Jammin Jenny wrote: "I think we should go ahead and post because we’ll get more points that way. But I would wait until the BR thread is up so you can claim the extra points."

Definitely! How/why would we get more points? Or do you just mean we'll get more points sooner? I'm still waiting to hear back from Trisha now.

message 77: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Yes I mean sooner, and we'll be able to read more books so in the end we'll post more points.

message 78: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments Lol so many thoughts and ideas and mostly they all make sense in different ways!! No one can say our team’s not thinking! ;-)

message 79: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments I honestly do not want to mess something up. LOL. So I am posting only on the SS. Whoever is in charge can move my books wherever.

message 80: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Jul 01, 2019 09:20PM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I don't think anyone is "in charge".

The reason I think we should post books as we read them is that we'll earn points for those books right away, even if we don't get the S/W/P guess right. That will allow us to read and post more books during the challenge, and the challenge is basically a points based challenge, with bonuses if we read a book that fits the suspect, and other bonuses if we guess the right S/W/P.

If we wait until we have two books read for a particular S/W/P, we might not be able to get as many points. So that's my reasoning.

So, let's vote:

- post books when they are read? 4
- post books when we have both tasks for a S/W/P done? 2

message 81: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5349 comments I vote post when done because I think Jenny’s logic is sound.

message 82: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I'm for either. My brain is too tired to form an opinion. lol.

message 83: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments I’m for either too. But I don’t understand why the amount of points we get would be any different if we wait to post for guesses or if we do them right away? To me it seems like we’d get the same amount of points regardless? I’ll do whatever everyone else wants to do. :-)

message 84: by Keri (new)

message 86: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments LOL I put you both down for both, but if you change your mind, let me know.

message 87: by Felicia (last edited Jul 02, 2019 06:34AM) (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Hi guys. Y'all are killing me right now. Lol.

You can post books as you read them because once you find for example your suspect that is a part of your conclusion, any books that you have posted on the review thread that are for subcategories for a suspect I will comment here telling you that you can move them to another category. That way you never lose out on a book counting towards finding your conclusion.

I will literally keep track of everything for you guys. The SS is just there for y'all to keep track of which subcategories your reading for so you don't double up on one subcategory.

message 88: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments So... basically, all we have to do is read?

message 89: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments Haha that’s Felicia, we’re overthinking a bit huh? LOL
I’m glad we have you to help us out from making it so hard on ourselves!! :-)

message 90: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Exactly right. And pick the categories you want you books to count towards.

message 91: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Keri wrote: "Haha that’s Felicia, we’re overthinking a bit huh? LOL

Hahaha. It's no problem. I definitely think y'all strategizing is a good thing. And you guys are right, you'll find your conclusions faster if you try to double up and get both of the subcategories for one category done. But you do not need to post both at the same time.

This challenge is seriously about your guys luck when picking which subcategories you want your books to count for.

My word of advice is when trying to decide which subcategory to put your books into if someone has alreday picked a subcategory see if your book can fit the other before just throwing it into another spot.

message 92: by Keri (new)

Keri | 1873 comments Ok perfect that’s what I was trying to do when choosing, check out what’s claimed in the spreadsheet and see what I have to fit the corresponding task. :-)

message 93: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Keri wrote: "Ok perfect that’s what I was trying to do when choosing, check out what’s claimed in the spreadsheet and see what I have to fit the corresponding task. :-)"

Exactly. But if it doesn't fit, no biggie. Because eventually something will.

message 94: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments I definitely get it now.

message 95: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Yay! Read and post! I like that type of challenge.

I try to make things as easy as possible. Lol.

message 97: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments This seems too good to be true but all I have to do is read a book and post it on the review?

Felicia | 15003 comments BookWorm wrote: "This seems too good to be true but all I have to do is read a book and post it on the review?"

After you go onto your teams SS and pick a subcategory for it to fit in. Yes.

message 99: by Esther (new)

Esther | 1834 comments How many comments do I need to put on the BR to get the points?
