The Bridge

The bridge is a frosty blue, very beautiful. It is over a crystal-clear river, and there is a hill next to it that has a lovely view of the lake.

Tara walked to the bridge, hoping Marcus was there.

Marcus walked to the area next to the bridge, his spot, and hoped that he would get to relax there. He saw Tara. "Hi!"

"Hi." Tara replied. She figured he was going to ask her what she had forgotten the other day, and since she didn't want to say, she should change the subject. "Have you Safiya recently?"

"Most people start the small talk with 'how are you'," Marcus commented dryly. "But yeah, I've seen Safiya. She asked about how you were and then winked at me, and then went off talking to some of our other friends."

"Oh." Tara said. She smirked at him. "How are you? See, I can do small talk." Just as long as it distracted him.

Marcus laughed, rolling his eyes. "I'm alright. And to be fair, you only said that after I told you that's what you're supposed to do. How are you?"

"Good." Tara said, sitting down. "Nothing much has happened. Boring things, like classes and such. I hate classes."

"Oh," Marcus said, "I take it you really don't have a favorite then. What about a least favorite subject then? Do you have one of those?"

"Nope." Tara said, settling into a more comfortable potion. "I just tune it all out and read books to learn what the professors 'teach'."

Marcus smiled, but then he remembered that he had something important to do back at the Palace. He said his goodbyes and left. Unfortunately, their schedules no longer allowed for them to cross paths.
