On a side note how good would it be to go on one of Alexander's tours of Botswana?

On the group page top right corner there is a link to Invite People. You need to be on the webpage, not the phone app.

We love the support you give our authors and their books, so we're going to be putting together a place for you to request upcoming titles.
We'll let you know when this is ready (hopefully in the next few days -
our final Goodreads giveaways end today) through the Competitions Quizzes Giveaways board (and can possibly also let you know about individual titles in the Up & Coming releases discussion, if that's ok with the mods).
Hopefully we can keep your TBR piles towering with great new releases :)
Andrew

Thank you Allen and Unwin. While I don't enter a lot of giveaways, I have learnt of some great books from others who do.

That's brilliant Andrew :) Thanks so much for this. What we might do is create a thread for Allen & Unwin New Releases - so it'll be separate from our usual. (As you have Aussie and non Aussie titles) Then we mods can transfer any Aussie new releases that we haven't picked up already, into the Aussie thread.
Maybe even the link for us to request new titles could be in this thread too? Let me know when and I can set it up for you...

Photobucket started charging a fee.
If its only one photo why don't you add it to your profile page then copy and paste the URL from there?
That's a good idea Ace. Jools has done that and then it can be put in the threads :)

Prynnne - She got quite a few of those treats as she ripped the bag open and she woofed them down in seconds. She may have a bit of arthritis and her hearing is staring to go a bit on her, but there is nothing wrong with her appetite lol.

I haven't read any of his novels but I thought I'd post the first in the Gunther series for those interested.

I have invested a huge amount of reviews into GR over the last few years. Recently, it seems there are more and more peculiarities with GR and I started to get a bit worried about what will happen to all those reviews if something goes pear shaped at GR.
So, book blogging seems to be a thing, I thought I would try to start one. I went to wordpress, I started a page called omnivourousreaderbookreviews and I am just having a look at how it works.
If any of you have book bolgs, input on starting them, any advice to give me about wordpress or any other site - I would LOVE to hear it. My computer skills are pretty standard, my programming skills non-existant and I am not paying for a site until I know for sure I can use it.
any ideas anyone...?

Kennedy would like to be your friend on Goodreads!
hi DM Cameron, get the book 'The Transit of Venus by Shirley Hazzard' at http://3sd.me/JJJdeXGV/, It's Popular ebooks downland web site
Is this happening to anyone else? Is it some kind of spam?
Yes it's spam Donna, don't click on the links! Go to their profile and scroll to the very bottom. On the left side you'll see "block this member". Click on that and block them. Goodreads is trying to eliminate the problem but I think they are fighting a losing battle!

Under their profile, they all supposedly live in the U.S. but in the ‘About Me’ section....what is posted isn’t in English, it appears to be in Russian. I actually used the online translator to find out what was written for one of the members. The translator reported; “all day awake, all night, thou shall not eat of course tired...!!!”
Huh?!
I reported all 4 to GR. They said that they appeared to be legitimate so they wouldn’t remove them.
The only thing to do is to block them.

I studied this in high school (a long time ago) and would love to read it again at some point for pleasure rather than study. Dystopia seems so relevant in today’s current political and cultural climate.
Colleague has found some pretty significant parallels with the world today. Even though Orwell wrote this nearly 70 years ago, before the internet, CCTV, reality television etc, he somehow managed to get it so right.
Colleague says that even reading it today, it’s actually frightening how close society could come to things turning in such a direction.
