ABANDONED. child abducted by non-custodial father

I have been searching for a book about a child being kidnapped from his (I believe it was a young boy) mother by his father who did not have custody. The father takes him across the country (US) and the mother follows behind him trying to get the boy back. I read this book in middle school, 2002- 2003, but it was not a new book then. This book is also a movie, if I remember correctly a Lifetime movie. Thanks!!
