Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story?

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments In the first 2 books we have read I have noticed a pattern. The "bad guy" has been a quiet character in the background. I hope this doesn't continue. I like to be surprised and will be disappointed if it becomes routine.

I’m hoping the same, Melissa. I liked this story, a lot, because it introduced some provocative themes that are still resonating today (young killers, vigilantism, justice) and the case was tough to figure out. Determining the identity of “Him” was almost anticlimactic.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I hope the same thing. Hopefully, the next book will keep us on our toes trying to guess who's involved.

I actually liked this one better than the first one. I'm not really sure why.

I think I might have to give this one an edge, too, Karen. It had a stronger plot.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments Thinking more about it, I think the plot was stronger and in addition, I felt this couple had more to deal with.

I agree, Karen!

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1810 comments I enjoyed the romance as well as the plot with its interesting themes of vigilantism and the vulnerability of young people to manipulation.

I also hope that Brennan works on developing more compelling red herrings and villains.

One last comment is about the writing style. There is something awkward about it that I can't quite put my finger on. It's like Brenann has a series of steps 1-5, but she provides steps 1-3, skips 4 and goes straight to 5. There is a leap in logic that she has in her head, but doesn't provide the necessary detail for the reader to make the same leap in logic.

I think you may be on to something, Lauren. I’m hoping this gets better with the Lucy Kincaid series. She leads you down this great path and then it just sort of fizzles out instead of with a bang.
