Sci-Fi novel read in the mid-2000s protagonist is an interplanetary android policeman reboots when he is killed

I don’t remember to much about the plot other than the planet he was on was really rough and the case was very dangerous/difficult and he reset a bunch of times. I read it in the mid 2000’s and my copy was a paperback with I think a picture of a white guy with brown hair in the foreground and a landscape background...not 100% on the cover. It might have been set on a desert planet.
