I finished it yesterday, forgot to update here, I really really liked it!!!
Sorry for very little details, but I feel like I exhausted everything in my review, and I don't have many left!!

Chapter 10 (view spoiler)[ It gets better and better. So cruel that she gets blamed for the release of the book of eyes and killing the Director. I have had a feeling from her death that Finch is responsible but that would be too simple. I think the author wants us to believe it was Finch. Maybe it was the other Warden. The magic is cool and the moss spirit interesting. I look forward to seeing more of the magic! (hide spoiler)]

Yes, I really loved this book. It wouldn't have been as great as it was without a certain demonic character, who the author was so kind to bring back! Man, was that a great ending. A lot of people hate resurrections, but when the resurrection is like that it is fantastic!

I will most definitely have to try the author's other story! I am just going to go and cry now! :D

Also, I feel like this is quite predictable. I mean, I may get thrown off by a twist, but so far, it’s pretty easy to guess what’s going to happen (hide spoiler)]

I also found it cool that they all have different personalities, and that they have different levels based on danger. I feel like so far I like both Elisabeth and Nathaniel. I feel like Nathaniel is definitely different than Elisabeth would have expected for a magister, which I think will turn out interesting. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I'm so happy that Elisabeth escaped from Ashcroft. He sort of came out of nowhere, and his plan was so cruel. I felt really bad for Elisabeth that she was stuck in his trap, but when she escaped I was very relieved. I really like Silas now that he saved Elisabeth because it really shows that Elisabeth can trust him. I'm quite surprised though about how Nathaniel is acting towards Elisabeth because I thought he would be happy to see that she was safe, but he didn't really care, and just went back to practicing magic. I also find it cool that the Grimoires are alive, and have personalities, just like people, because it is interesting and funny to see and imagine what they are like. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Wow, I didn't expect Ashcroft to use the mirrors to spy on Elisabeth and Nathaniel. I was also quite surprised when Silas sacrificed himself for Nathaniel, but then Nathaniel brought him back. I feel bad for Elisabeth and Nathaniel though that they had years of life taken from them, it really showed that Elisabeth was willing to sacrifice things for Nathaniel and Silas. I was also impressed that Elisabeth stole the Codex because I definitely thought she was going to get caught, but she didn't thankfully. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Wow, I was definitely not expecting that ending. When Silas sacrificed himself for Elisabeth and Nathaniel, it was sweet and sad at the same time, but it seemed like that was just going to be the ending. In the epilogue, when they brought him back, I was quite shocked, because normally epilogues just say that the heroes are back to their normal lives, but interesting things actually happened in the epilogue this time! I'm so happy that they brought Silas back because they probably would have been depressed for a really long time/forever if Silas wasn't back, so I'm really happy with that ending. I do feel like this book could have been made into a good sequel, but I'm content with how it ended, and wouldn't want anything to change. Overall, I loved this book so much, and I highly recommend it! :) (hide spoiler)]

Finished - I loved it! My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be plans to make this into a series. (view spoiler)[ I really would like to see Nathaniel, Elisabeth and Silas have more adventures together. Surely a child of the library has a lot of work to do now that they are in ruins? And now that Nathaniel's family magic is gone, won't the realm be in danger of war? Seems like there are a lot of things that could continue their story, how disappointing that it is over. I thought the entire thing was very clever and well written.

Who else got choked up when Elisabeth whispered "Silas" and he appeared. OMG, there were some tears that attempted to jump out of my eyes. (hide spoiler)]

I agree, those were all great plot points. I suspected (view spoiler)[ the mirror being used against them because of what the royal librarian said about them. But, I was surprised when Silas died (the first time). I still don't exactly understand how the years of life exchange works. I mean Silas made it sound like people die when they are supposed to die, so how does he feed? And does that mean that he is in a perpetual state of hunger the entire time?? I guess it is not important that I understand it, it still made for an interesting part of the story. (hide spoiler)]
