Haha i really like how the author gave the Grimoires realistic characteristics as well the demons. I’m not quite sure how to feel about Nathaniel or Sila. If anything i feel like I’d trust Nathaniel more than Sila, but still... even though he didn’t seem to turn out how she thought he’d be, there’s still something a little fishy. Also can we just talk about how it was annoying that it was obvious Sila was a demon before she found out! Like uhhh i know he keeps distracting her mind and so she couldn’t have figured it out without resisting (which she eventually did) but like, i just wanted to transport to the books dimension and be like “Elizabeth!! Very invested into this book right now!! It gives me beauty and the beast kinda vibes which I like, but it’s also very very different from that story.

45% Still have a bad feeling about Nathaniel, but whether or not he’s bad, he’s my current book crush!! He’s like a ruff/edgy person that underneath has a tender heart (view spoiler)[ I’m not that surprised with Ashcroft being the bad guy and torturing Elizabeth. I kinda had a feel about that, however I still feel like Nathaniel is hiding something. Like maybe he’s actually Elizabeth’s brother, since she was adopted. Or most likely he wants to propose to her because he’s got the hots for her 😉 hahah. Orrrr he could be involved with the plan with Ashcroft and is gathering info about Elizabeth, because it was his plan to gain her trust all along! Woahhh dude!!! (view spoiler)[ I enjoyed how Ashcroft set Nathaniel up to chose between Elizabeth and Silas, and then how Silas is stabbed, and the whole thing where Elizabeth gives 10 years to Silas to help Nathaniel! However I wished it would’ve happened a bit more different, like Nathaniel was part of the whole thing, or she was related to someone involved (though I’m not finished with it yet so something could happen). But I also found some things very random. Like the whole bisexual thing with Nathaniel, and I also find Silas’ actions to be very random even despite his nature. Also I’m not quite sure how I like the whole romance thing to suddenly just occur at the snowing scene, don’t get me wrong I like a good romance, but it just seemed very forced. Like it had to happen because that’s what the story was trying to lead up to and now there was no going back type of thing. Hmm, I haven't read the part about (view spoiler)[being revived, but of what I have read maybe the mother and son were in the accident and the husband just couldn't take it anymore so he asked Silas to kill him? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I just finished that part and it did sound like Silas had to kill the father because the magic of the resurrection would have killed Nathanial. Silas saved his life. He got something out of it but he did still save his life. (hide spoiler)]

Review:
THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD! I was interested in it at the start, and then it kind of died down and I lost that intrigue. But I saw it was the Book of the Month for a new book club run by some youtubers I watch, and it was on sale on Kindle, so I picked it up! And boy I loved it, all of it! It also took me a very long time to read, a bit a day, which I think helped. I retained a lot more details, and it was more enjoyable, not forcing myself to read it.
Is it weird that I got super duper Infernal Devices vibes, at least from Jem and Silas? And Elisabeth's description.
Nathaniel <3 His words, his looks, his characeristics. He's just amazing! Could be a new book boyfriend for me!
Silas <3 His protectiveness, loyalty and dedication are just on point.
I'm glad that romance wasn't the high point of the book, but it was a good added extra. There was so much depth and character history in this as well, it was perfect! So happy I read this finally.

(view spoiler)[ I remember after this book came out a lot of booktubers were complaining about how it didn't make sense that she didn't know much about sorcerers and stuff when she's surrounded by books, but it seems to me like she is purposely kept in the dark about all of that stuff while apprenticing. I imagine she isn't even supposed to open any of the books that contain that information.

So far I like the story a lot more than An Enchantment of Ravens, and I love Margaret Rogerson's writing. I'm just wondering why Elisabeth is so convinced that they took her there to kill her, like why would they bother going through that much trouble? lol
