The answer is unfortunately no. :(

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments ok awesome, i will definitely listen to hogfather then and we can stick it wherever we want.

here is my tentative TBR list for the upcoming week, although really just options since there's way more than i will actuall get through. i think i can probably do 7 of them though. if you've read any of them and know of any other letters then let me know, these are just what i see from title/author/summary/narrators

Roadkill - adventure tag, B, I, G,
Aurora Rising - adventure tag, G & E [audio narrators]
Hogfather - adventure tag, ALL LETTERS

and i might get to Lost Gods - adventure tag, B - but i'm not sure if i could get through 4 audio books in one week lol, guess it depends on what i end up doing.

i was going to save Wicked Gentlemen - adventure tag, B, G - for if we got walnut but i think i will go ahead and try it now since it fits the genre and who knows if we we will actually get walnut at all

and none of these have the adventure tag so i i could do any of them depending on what letters we end up needing:

The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t with Her Mind - G. will probably end up doing this one since it's an ARC and it publishes on tuesday lol. constantly behind on ARCs

Blood Divine - B G
The Gilda Stories - G
Exquisite Corpse - B E
An Illusion of Thieves - I G
No Tomorrow - E
Escape from B-Movie Hell - E
Seers Stone - E

Melindam | 8367 comments Thanks Devann!

Unfortunately 'het-romance-adventure' will not work! Mods only accept exact genre match! :(

message 54: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I love those books that also evoke memories - another reason books are so special.

That's cool it works for everything!

SandyL | 4747 comments Great list Devann! I've been going through my TBR and making a list so I have stuff to choose from - I'm kind-of a mood reader.

We only get points for 10 'adventure' books - anything past that doesn't help us. We may get the same color/genre again, so once we get our 10 books we may want to consider saving some of those other books just in case? Unless it's something you really want to read or need to get a book back to the library.

I'm bummed - I didn't get picked to do DQ's for the BOM. 😢

message 56: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments well these are by no means all of my adventure books, just the ones from the 30 or so books that i had on my tbr for the rest of the month so i was planning on trying to get them done this month anyway and if we get beige again later then i'll have a new pool of books to pull from [since i'm assuming if we get beige two weeks in a row we will probably use one of our respins lol] but i had forgotten that we only got points for the first 10 so good to get a reminder! i might save wicked gentlemen in case we get walnut next week, but the rest i will probably try to do anyway since they are all authors i know i like.

message 57: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Question: For the BOM - I can start and participate in the DQs the first two days, but would have to finish it the week after the discussion. If I remember correctly from the past, that's ok, but I just want to double check. Those extra points are always nice :)

Yes, that works

message 59: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Great - thanks Sandy! My library has it on audio, so I'll get it checked out. My library also has Dry available (one of next months) - I'm hoping it still will be there when I need it!

SandyL | 4747 comments Is anybody interested in volunteering to write DQ's for July BOM Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid ?

If not, I'll volunteer
Volunteer here

message 61: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I can volunteer - it's available on Scribd, so I was planning on reading it.

Hi Green Goddesses!
A few things before we get started - sorry if this is long but I wanted to get this info out.

💠It looks like we have a great team! This challenge is only 8 weeks, so hopefully everyone is able to stick with it. I know you are all NBRC challenge veterans, so I don't forsee any problems, but if something happens in real life that you don't have time to read or need to drop out, please let me or Melinda or the mods know asap. And if you're going to be away for a bit or on vacation, please give us a heads up.

💠We'll get a new word and genre each week - I think on Wednesdays. We get two opportunities during the challenge for a re-spin. Also, we may get the same word/genre more than once. We can discuss each week if we want to keep or re-spin, so please try and check in on Wednesdays. Also, since this is a challenge, if a genre comes up that you aren't crazy about, hopefully everyone will be willing to find at least one book that fits.

💠We can earn extra points by participating in the BOM - the books look good and hopefully many on our team are interested in joining the discussions! (Info and links in Msg 7

💠Both Melinda and I like to be competitive and we'd love to win, but we also want everyone to have fun and enjoy the challenge. So read good books that you like, and hopefully read like crazy. 😍

Countdown to Start

message 65: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Less than half a day...YAYYY! :)

message 66: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I usually try to read the BOM and answer the questions, but don't like to volunteer to write them. I've already read this month's BOM but I plan to participate in the two next month.

message 67: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments unfortunately i don't generally end up reading the BOMs just because i am so picky, but i guess we'll see what gets picked for august. i did put in a nomination so fingers crossed lol

Melindam | 8367 comments Just a kind reminder: once you finish a book, please make sure you add all details to the planning sheet and THEN report it to the BOOKS READ thread.

If you cannot access the sheet for some reason (doesn't work on your phone, etc), please let us know & put all the necessary info in the reporting thread then Sandy and I can do the sheet updates.

Melindam | 8367 comments I have also volunteered for Backroom BOM discussion for Perfect Formation.

message 73: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Happy reading everyone!!! I was trying to finish my last book before the challenge started last night, but didn't get it done. Now I'm debating whether to put it on hold for a bit and start something new, or just power through and get it done. But I will start a new audiobook this morning - just trying to decide which one!

message 74: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm putting my current audiobook on hold and starting the Upside of Unrequited - my current one is non-fiction and pretty easy to hold up on :)

I'm going to read Belle A Retelling of "Beauty and the Beast" (Once Upon a Time) by Cameron Dokey today because I need it for another challenge and figured its short enough I can finish it in one day :) I'm hoping another letter besides "B" shows up.

I'm the same! Currently powering through to get this one done so I can start my first book for the challenge. Though I'm really enjoying this book so I don't want to rush it too much. #ReadingChallengeProblems

message 76: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i started three books this morning and added them to the planning sheet lol i always read way too many books at the same time

message 77: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments I decided to start a new book, and I'll finish the other one in between books/chapters. Is anybody else doing SRC and trying to fit their books into that challenge also? 📚

message 78: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm doing "The Hunt is on!" and am trying to fit into both. And a Bingo. I think I mentioned my challenge addiction and there is proof!

message 79: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Ha-Ha, I also started 3 books this morning, 1 audio & 2 kindle. I will finish Burn for me 1st as it's a re-read, so fast, easy & enjoyment guaranteed.

message 80: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I started The Twelve this morning. I had to search online for a detailed summary of the first book in the series, because I forgot so much. I found some details, but I wish it were easier to see all the major plot points in series books since my memory is so bad.

Sometimes you've just got to start over from the beginning! :-)

message 82: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I do that a lot of the time, but these books are so long that I didn't want to.

message 83: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments yeah i'm gonna have to start over if i ever want to finish the song of ice and fire series, but i decided i'm not finishing them until he does so i figure i've got about 50 years til that happens ;)

message 84: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Mark Lawrence does a short "what you need to know" summary at the start of each of his books - I really wish all authors did that.

message 85: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments THAT would be very handy!

message 86: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments yes i love that he does that, much better than having it awkwardly in the text or just not recapping at all

message 87: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments also i'm hoping to finish two books later today. i got a bit distracted last night watching good omens lol. although now i have the problem of not letting myself get distracted by fanfic. must read real books for challenge! ;)

message 88: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments What is Good Omens like? I loved the book and heard about the TV adaptation but it willbe some time before I can watch it.

message 89: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i was actually pretty unsure about it before it came out but i ended up absolutely loving it. i still think sheen was a bit of a weird choice to play aziraphale but he actually did really well, and of course tennant was amazing as always.

message 90: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I love both actors. Can't wait to watch it. :)

message 91: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments I don't read or watch much fantasy, but it looks good (I've seen some ads) so I'll have to check it out!

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend (besides reading?😁

message 92: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Well, reading is the only, though considerable, fun I'm having. Plus I did some nice icecream-cake to help us with the cooling down in tge scorching heat we're having in Hungary right now.

message 93: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm reading and playing with the grandson - both qualify as fun I think :) Good luck with the heat - I have a hard time wanting to do ANYTHING when I'm too hot.

message 94: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i'm going to a live show of my brother, my brother, and me tonight. it's a comedy podcast, idk if any of you have heard of it but it's pretty great. it's also pouring down rain here for the second day running so not hot but ...yay driving in the rain lol

i think i'm gonna try to do a few shorter books next that work for E since i haven't seen many E's on the completion thread and we need twice as many of them.

message 95: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments No worries. We can already put together BEIGE once & the go on from there ;)

message 96: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Hi everyone! I'm going to try and do some gardening - a part of my yard is very overgrown and it's cool this morning. I hate doing that, so hopefully I can get into my audio book which will help pass the time! I finished another audiobook last night and will add it in a bit. I've got two books I'm reading on my kindle and I'll hopefully finish one of them today.

I hope everyone has a fun Sunday!!!!

message 97: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments UPDATE:

we are doing great, Green Ladies! :)

We have already spelled out BEIGE twice + have 20 extra points for 4 adventure books. We can read 6 more adventure books for the maximum extra points.

message 98: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments That is terrific! Go green!

message 99: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments awesome! i'm currently listening to an adventure book [aurora rising, already on the sheet] and then am gonna listen to hogfather after that's two more adventure books coming up.

message 100: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Great Devann. I am also reading 1 adventure book, so we are doing fine on that front as well.
