Peter (pdinuk) | 16 comments The tragic turmoil in Khartoum at the moment is particularly poignant for me as my short book on history and Sudanese conflict launches on 13th June. I recall often walking the streets of Khartoum in better times without ever feeling in danger.
Divided by History Roots of Sudanese Conflict by Peter Dixon ]
In ‘Divided by History’, I look at the ways in which outsiders in Sudanese history have shaped the disunity we see today. As a non-historian writing for non-historians, I examine how far into the distant past the origins of the multiple complex conflicts of today's Sudan and South Sudan stretch.
Divided by History is a short book in which I take the reader back to ancient Egypt, the Ottoman Empire and British rule of Sudan to investigate the role of outsiders in Sudan's past and their impact on the present.
To give the book a following wind, I would love to get as many honest reviews as possible at Amazon. The book is now available, so reviews can already be posted, and the Kindle edition will be discounted to 99p/99c until 20th June.
For more information, see the short video at my author page Peter Dixon or at http://bit.ly/DividedbyHistory.
