Also I just did the Movie game

I like that Sarah. That will be our next question. I first want to ask:
Were most of our author's writings published in the 1900s?
Were most of our author's writings published in the 1900s?

Whoops, sorry everyone! Thanks for the information, Katie.

And just for a plug - it was great! I listened to the audio, and it was almost heart-stopping at the end!

I got my kid's book from the library, but struggling with a migraine today so reading a physical book long enough to finish is questionable tonight. I'll see how things are going later on, but it sounds like we have a few child books in progress already.
Just a heads up, I am now adding more buckets to each team. Please update spreadsheets accordingly :)

I did notice that you have A Woman is No Man for a couple possible categories. I just checked out The Lost Man from the library, so if we don't need it sooner than that and time allows, we could go for two titles with "Man" in them as a possiblity.
I also added the books on my June TBR stack that work for various categories. I can't commit to reading all of them of them before Sunday. :)

Deborah, I can definitely plan to finish that one at the same time you're finishing The Lost Man. That was the only one that I was really concerned about!
Kathryn, I think there was only one person who mentioned spines earlier, so I would say go after that prompt!

Ah - clever girls! I was thinking that one would be tricky too, but Deborah and Emily are on it!

OK, I'm on it!

Island authors is stumping me for ideas. I think that came up as a suggested prompt for last year's voting process, but I don't know if anyone knows of any island author lists to draw from?
I checked the archives, but the only time it's mentioned is in the suggestions thread, and there were no links. There's also nothing in the rejects folder about it.
It would probably be better to search specifically for authors from ____. Hawaii, Bora Bora, anywhere in the Caribbean...

If you want to get literal, any Australian author would count - we're the largest island, but we are still an island! And there's a lot of Aussie authors: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3... (however I've read a lot of Australian authors, but only 13 out of the first 100 on this list!). The Aussie Readers group bookshelf could also be a good resource: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
New Zealand is also an island, as is the UK... And personally, if I was reading for this prompt, one of these countries is what I would go with!

EDIT: We had the same thought, Kathryn! I would definitely go Australian or UK.

But all books on the Aussie Readers' group bookshelf (I don't think you need to join the group to see the bookshelf) should be Australian - I can recommend Liane Moriarty, Nicole Trope, Matthew Reilly, Michael Robotham, Tony Park, Kelly Rimmer... I could go on, but I won't!

I wasn't sure if Australia counted as an island - Google gave me mixed results on the question of continent vs. island, but that definitely opens up a lot of possibilities!

We are definitely an island, but we're also a continent. We're the only continent that is also an island - fun fact for the day!

And yes, I loved The Rosie Project when I read it - it made me laugh out loud!

Pages read today: 199

I will finish The Proposal tonight so that will take care of a book that features a sport.
Another book that I could finish tomorrow night or whenever we need it is Searching for Sylvie Lee which contains an epilogue.
I finished Their Eyes Were Watching God (PRAISE I'M DONE), so we have the year spanning covered. I'm waiting for Jill to confirm that she finished The Proposal to count for the sports book and then we will be done with Bucket 9.
Oh great, thanks Jill!
The epilogue one is Bucket 11, so just check in and make sure we have the books with child protagonist and the celestial body book finished before you finish that one!

Deborah, it turns out that me and Kelly were both planning on reading How Not to Die Alone, so we will use that one for the book title with the same words in it... After thinking about it, I just don't think I can do a heavy book like A Woman Is No Man right now!

Understandable! The Lost Man is also by an Aussie author, so lots of options!

Oh perfect!!

Ok gang, I'm heading to sleep soon. Here's where we stand, halfway through the Read-A-Thon.
We have read A TON of books (I haven't tracked those) for a total of 20,674 pages (reported as of this moment).
We have solved one author, and we are one Read-A-Thon game and one book away from getting to ask two more questions about our second author.
We are currently in second place (behind Ladybug, ahead of Bumblebee), but I know we can come back and take it!
Please make sure you are submitting your page count and keeping an eye on the prompts! It's really helpful when you tell us you have finished a book, even if you don't know if fits prompts, because we can usually figure it out.
People who are reading books with children narrators and/or celestial bodies, get ready to finish those tomorrow! We will be wrapping up our currently bucket tonight.
Great work, team! Y'all are killing this game!

I read 161 pages today.
Now I am going back to Searching for Sylvie Lee but will wait to read the epilogue until we are ready for it. Working from home tomorrow and I am currently about halfway through the book so I should be able to wrap it up as soon as it is needed.

I am off to work in a bit, where I can sneak in reading the rest of my child mc book. I am actually technically reading it for a book talk on thursday (I am children's and youth librarian) so I don't feel too guilty about that.
I am a 100 pages from finishing Killing Commendatore by Murakami, who is Japanese, and Japan is very much an island (well several, but Murakami must be from one of them).
