Sorry, yes it is in addition

Katie | 2360 comments Deborah, I read The Hunger last year & thought it was pretty interesting. I'm excited to see what you think of it.

message 303: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments I finished The Hunger on my way to work this morning. Possibly the worst example of a road trip to celebrate Take A Road Trip day with, but I think it counts to finish Bucket 7 and allow us to start reading the rainbow!

I will definitely finish The Bell Jar tonight for red.

I have an ARC for The Escape Room which would work for the game prompt in bucket 9 unless anyone else has something for that and I should work on finding some colorful covers.

I am hoping my hold for Front Desk will come into the library tomorrow for the child character prompt.

It was not a book I normally would have necessarily picked up, but it was a book club pick. I wound up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. I classify it as more creepy than scary if that makes any sense - maybe because I expected the cannibalism and people turning on each other going into it. The general concept of the journey and the historic bits were very interesting for me as I haven't read much on that. :)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments Did we figure out how many books per page for the 6th page of your tbr? If I set mine for 30 books for page How to Build a Girl is on there. I'm going to start reading it because it could (hopefully) work for the 6th page and it is an all green cover How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran so it could probably work for either.

Deborah, that's perfect!

Also, as of this writing, we are literally ONE PAGE short of having Bucket 8's page count fulfilled!

Once Deborah finishes The Hunger, we can begin filling in the rainbow. I'm thinking it will be a first finished, first filled on the colors, but orange and yellow definitely have enough possible books to use. Deborah's The Bell Jar will cover red, and a few people have mentioned purple books that they have found. We will still need green and blue!

Are y'all cool with me asking questions? We have two available!

EDIT: Brittany, go ahead and read that one... we will count it either way. I'll post a question to the mods now.

Katie | 2360 comments Deborah wrote: "I classify it as more creepy than scary if that makes any sense

I agree. I was a little worried going into it that it would be horrific, but it wasn't any more horrific than what actually happened. Ha. I read it for the alternate history prompt last year.

I did finish The Hunger so we're good to go!

And I say go for it on the questions! :)

Ok so we have three questions...

Is the author from the United Kingdom?
Does the author's last name begin with M-Z?
Does the author write novels?

message 310: by Brittany (last edited Jun 10, 2019 10:35AM) (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments I did favorite things as well, forgot to post that I finished it earlier.

message 311: by Johanne (last edited Jun 10, 2019 09:39AM) (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I have a blue book I have to read tonight for work anyway, so I can do that.
Kraken by Benni Bødker
It´s a short children´s book (120 pages), and it could work for child as main character as well, depending on how fast everyone reads. I also have (other) books with children as main characters ready, if needed.

message 312: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments I did the Favorite Things and the Syn/Ant posts!

Updated!

The ruling from the mods is that it's whatever your default is set to... mine is set to infinite scroll, but it adds 30 each time it adds books, so 30 seems to be the default for me. But if your default is set to something different, use that one!

message 314: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3313 comments I did the Favorite Things game

message 315: by Christy (new)

Christy | 61 comments I just completed favorite things and added 92 pages to my total.
Thanks very much to everyone for the sympathy regarding the Bed Bug Library Book. It still looks like there has been no contamination (I've taken several precautionary measures anyway), so I'm finally starting to relax. The library will take the book out of circulation, but they said this sort of thing is rare but does happen. I don't think they were going to take any further action. For the sake of my nerves I will be taking a bit of a break from checking physical books out of the library.

message 316: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3313 comments I finished 154 pages of The Masterpiece The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis

Has blue on the cover but probably not enough to count.

message 317: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments Now that I'm on an actual computer, I just saw that between all the super long Stephen Kings and other books I can't get through this week on my TBR page 6, I do have The War of the Worlds and my library had it on digital and audio, so I could probably do that in addition to finishing up my red cover book (it is relatively short and I've got a couple hours in the car ahead of me before I get home tonight)!

message 318: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments Finished the Favorites game

Making progress on the book on the 6th page of my TBR list.

message 322: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments Ok for June 10th so far I have read 107 pages and I finished Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie by Agatha Christie which I think looks orange so if no one else has filled the spot for an orange cover we can use this.

message 323: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments Sounds like we're covered for the TBR prompt now that I've reviewed the planning tab more, so will prioritize my red cover and then book about a game.

message 324: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
Sarah, let's count it for orange!

message 325: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
We still need red, yellow, green, blue, and purple filled... Anyone planning on finishing books that fill these before they go to sleep tonight?

Edie, Deborah, and Brittany are all working on 6th page TBR books, so whoever finishes first will have theirs counted towards that, and the other two people can go towards the rainbow!

message 326: by Christy (new)

Christy | 61 comments I think I will finish Map of Salt and Stars tonight, which has a lot of blue... would that work? The Map of Salt and Stars by Zeyn Joukhadar
I just did the synonyms and antonyms game.

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
Yes! Thanks Christy.

Red -
Green -
Blue - Christy - The Map of Salt and Stars
Purple -

We've earned another question! I'm going to start narrowing down the name...

Does our author's last name start with the letters M-R?

message 328: by Dina (new)

Dina | 236 comments I read 203 pages today; finished One True Loves - a book with a yellow cover (maybe pale yellow?). I included the cover just is case.

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I'd count that for yellow! (Unless the mods pop in and disagree?)

Kathryn | 563 comments I still need to finish at least one of Kakadu Sunset and The Pearl Thief before I start another book. I hope someone's working on a green cover - I have An Irish Country Practice here which is very green, but will take at least a couple of days for me to finish it.

Ok I'll take it off then! It was more of a cream color... might not be yellow enough to count.

I have been struggling to finish Their Eyes Were Watching God. It't only 195 pages long, but the dialect is so tricky to read that I'm not getting through them as fast as I'd hoped. It would definitely count for yellow though. I'll try to get to at least page 100 tonight and finish it in the morning.

Kathryn she came to mind immediately because I read her last book last year right before she passed away and I was so sad she died. I enjoyed alot of her writing.

I’m about halfway through a green book so I’ll keep working on it tonight and probably have it finished pretty early tomorrow.

message 340: by Tracy (last edited Jun 10, 2019 06:09PM) (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Sorry Ive been pretty much absent. I'm off my shots for 6 months now because of a stupid insurance change and Im in so much pain and not sleeping well.

I have a day to rest tomorrow and August 9th is Book Lovers day so I can read Bookworm: A Memoir of Childhood Reading for the holiday if its not already been done. Let me know.

I'm having so much trouble focusing but it looks like we need cover colors done as well so Im looking to see whats on my kindle.

Just tell me what to do LOL..... I need directions :/

some ideas:
red- Everything Here Is Beautiful by Mira T. Lee
green- Every Living Thing (All Creatures Great and Small, #5) by James Herriot or Morning Glory by Sarah Jio
purple- The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman or All the Lies We Tell (Quarry Road, #1) by Megan Hart or The Girl In Between (The Girl in Between, #1) by Laekan Zea Kemp or The Moonflower Vine by Jetta Carleton

just pick one and I'll read it in bed tomorrow.

message 341: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

This is probably my closest option to a purple cover, but it might be more burgundy than purple? Thoughts?

message 342: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments Since it looks like the book with a blue book is I can stop reading Searching for Sylvie Lee and move to The Proposal which starts with a marriage proposal at a baseball game. Do you think that would work for the sports prompt? Because of work I don’t think I can finish it until Wednesday even if I start it tonight.
I also played the My Favorites game.

message 343: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2360 comments Deborah wrote: "This is probably my closest option to a purple cover, but it might be more burgundy than purple? Thoughts?"

I would definitely call that purple.

message 344: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
Jill, I would say The Proposal would work for the sports book, and since we are still pretty behind on the rainbow covers, Wednesday would probably be fine.

Deborah, I would say that's purple.... you can take that one and Tracy, maybe you can focus on the celestial body on the cover or the child protagonist? You'll have a couple days to read those.

Brittany will cover green, Christy has blue, I can take yellow, and Deborah will have purple?

And Edie, Deborah, and Brittany are all working on 6th page TBR books, so that should be covered as well.

message 345: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) | 418 comments Okay, sounds good! I think my purple book should be a quick read. :)

I'm a third of the way through a purple cover book.

message 349: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments Im probably going to read a bit more tonight, but I don’t think I’m going to get my book finished and might not check in again before bed so put me down for 206 pages today.

message 350: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments Emily, Did we ever ask if this author was an American? I see it listed on the spreadsheet, but don't see it in the comments or a response. If asked, I assume the answer was NO or we wouldn't have asked about the author being from the UK.

I'm 30% of the way through my purple book.. and 25% of the way through the my 6th page of my TBR book. I will prioritize the purple book which is shorter. Both books are ebooks and it's hard to say precisely how many pages I have read. I will report them when I finish a book.
