I read these books about 6-7 years ago from my library. about a brother and sister that lose their family who had been staying in an empty motel. The kids end up going on a magical adventure to save their family and discover a whole new world. End up saving the school(headquarters?) that was endangered by evil coming to battle. Think there were about 5 books total. I remember they had to go through creepy passages to get places. I think they found other relatives when they got to the headquarters/school area. All throughout the books they find allies to help them get places. I remember them needing to not be seen in some places, also they were able to see visions when they got to one place also and then could transport there as well. They had to travel back and forth a few times also.
