SOLVED. Middle-grade/children's book about dragon school from about 2006-2009. [s]

This book was set on a fantasy island, written for children/middle-grade and was from the perspective of the daughter (I think) of the headmaster of a dragon school. The cover was red and I'm pretty sure there was a green dragon on the cover. I can't remember too much about the plot other than the above, but I think the protagonist was pretty obnoxious/resistant to learning with the dragons?

I believe it would have been published between 2006 and 2009.

The most distinctive thing about the story was that it was told as if it was real, perhaps in journal form?

Thanks Teri-K, but unfortunately not. The cover is similar, but the book was definitely set in a school and the protagonist was female. Thank you though!
