Probably not the Jenny Linsky series (including Jenny and the Cat Club: A Collection of Favorite Stories about Jenny Linsky) as it's set in New York, not London, and the cat club typically meets in a yard, not a roof, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case (since details are often misremembered).

Hmm, some of them are close, but still no luck unfortunately.My father is dead set on it being set in London, my memory is far more hazy on it.
Thank you though for the efforts, at the very least there are some cool books i can offer up to my kids.
Do you remember whether it was a picture book or a chapter book? If a chapter book, was it illustrated?
Chapter book, not illustrated from memory. Not a childrens book, didn't really feel like young adult either. But this was 20 odd years ago, categories weren't so clear cut back then.
The Fur Person by May Sarton, perhaps? I am finding a lot of cat fantasy, and a lot of children's, but not much adult fiction -- and I did see what you said about the lack of a clear line, but the children's work I am finding is very much for children.The Autobiography of Foudini M. Cat is another adult-ish looking book.
I guess the volume of potentials has increased greatly.Well, hopefully someone might remember it and stumble on to it.
It might be much older than i know. I.e White Fang era publication.

Yeah, i never did find it. My last chat with my dad he said he remembered something about Moonlight being a thing. Unfortunately my dad passed earlier this year so i can't ask him any more.

I also wondered if it might be a Book by Michael Morpurgo. I believe he has written several based around cats.

It was one of those anthropomorphic reads, i.e from the cats point of view, it was a story about a cat or various cats (unsure) and their lives in the city (possibly London). My parents think the title had something to do with "rooftops". But i've done some searching for that and come up with nothing. I'm not sure the publishing date but at least older than 20-25 years is my guess.
