Why do you think Celie stayed with Mr.___ for so long? Even when he would beat her and they didn't love each other. "I don't love Mr.__ and he don't love me" (63).

I think Celie stayed with him because she didn't have the courage to leave, or to stand up to him. Even if she didn't love him and he didn't love her, it took her many years to build up the courage to stand up to him and to just leave him.
