The Rhythm of War is slated for late 2020 / early 2021 right now... Sanderson has been working on the outlines since January... I think he has Rhythm of War laid out, but is still working on Szeth's book... he needs to figure out everything that needs to happen in book 4 so that the first story arc can end in book 5 before he starts writing in earnest... that and Skyward #2 re-writes/edits are the majority of Sanderson's plans for the next 18 months... altho I assume Skyward is about done by now, since it releases in November... Sanderson posted an update on reddit in March/April I think... and a request for song suggestions while writing...

I love Clef by now and Gregor reminds me in a way of Commander Taskin from To Ride Hell's Chasm. So hellbent on justice. I trust him though, despite his seeming stiffness. Pardon my English but (view spoiler)[what those bastards did to Sancia on the plantation and the way that scene was described!! That was so gruesome and just OMG!! Is it bad that I'm happy she burned them all to kingdom come?!
I do hope Orso will be able to fix her!!

And I hope he'll be able to fix Clef too. A person scrived into a key! That memory he had made it crystal clear that that's what really happened. And now his awareness is too big for the key and he's dying and I'm biting my fingers and hoping yet again that crazy cranky funky Orso can help! Yeah! I like him too and Berenice also. Funny I guess I never knew what Grimdark was until Scott used it in a sentence! Anyway, this was my introduction to Robert Bennett, I will be reading more of his books post haste! Really enjoying this book. It hits roughly the halfway point and just starts gettin’ better and better.
This magic system is quite excellent. It is mostly a straight takeaway from old computer programming but it is really well thought out.

Yes Clef is dead but that was a given from almost the beginning, but the reveal in chapter 35 about Gregor being scrived-and DEAD a few times?? Or more?? Guessing he died in the original carriage crash with his Dad and brother. Also, got the feeling Ofelia his wickedly evil bitch mother was behind the crash. But he certainly died more than once. But he will recover. And the massive reality changing favor Valeria owes Sancia could easily bring Clef back(theory). (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[As a followup, Sancia is cured and is now a bad assed half godlike person, hmmmm demigod would have been better term. Foundryside Company is gonna kick some serious ass. Sancia and Berenice are gonna get super cozy. The powers that be are screwed with the exception of Ofeplia who is now exposed as the Uber villain. (hide spoiler)]
Really enjoyed this book and think it was a lot of fun. More importantly, really looking forward to Shorefall! Only reason I didn’t give five stars is cuz I usually wait for the next book to see if I really like it, or it was just a temporary hormonal thing..😂😂

I didn't feel like the ending was (view spoiler)[quite that bad. It would have felt somehow wrong to have all pinecones and candies after all that grim and dark stuff they've gone through.

In a way, I think maybe Sancia working with Berenice and Orso will be able to fix both Gregor and Clef. After all, the Golden Woman told her she'll develop a lot of new powers. She is a lottle editor herself now right. And a broken Gregor is always better than a dead Gregor, which would have been really bad if you ask me. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I was suspecting Ofelia from the very beginning and when the armour showed up, I guessed it may be intended for Gregor.

But I did not see it coming that Gregor himself would be scrived to cheat death. Though the fact he clawed his way out of a grave from under rotting boddies makes perfect sense now.

The watch imperiat - seems like a mean piece of junk. And by that I mean malevolent. Like the opposite of Clef.

That scene of Clef trapped under the spokes of the key was heartbreaking and I loved the advice he gave to Sancia - to stay true to her heart and do good, then she'll do well. Well besically that's what he meant right?!

Orso kicks ass. And I loved the warning he gave the other houses to not fuck with Foundryside Limited cause, or else... :D

Berenice is awesome. And I'm really glad she and Sancia will get cosy.

The scriving system is fabulous. Original and intricate and yeah, awesome.

@Iain I used to be the same a few years ago, I would read the same thing for hours on end and finish a book in a day. Recently I prefer to read a few things at once and switch it up, picking up whatever I fancy at the time. I've done a few BRs with a schedule before, where everyone reads a few chapters a day and that worked well for discussion.

I agree that loads happens in this book. At least so far, there doesn't seem to be a clear beginning or middle, just lots of shorter action sequences so I find there's lots of little things I have opinions on, rather than a few big events.

@Daniel I'm really enjoying Sancias character development. I like that she seems so real. She's genuinely scared a lot and that's okay. I don't like it as much when the hero is unafraid of everything and ready and ready to take on the world. Sancia knows she's not the biggest, baddest thing on the streets.

I was at a Guns and Roses show when they were nobody. The place they played was called the living room and for good reason since it wasn't much larger. Literally under 150 people at the show and it was packed. Also saw Jane's addiction at a place that held about 500 people. Again nobody knew who they were back then.

@Charlie yes Bennett has a very realistic writing style and the emotions feel very real. Since roughly 25% and onwards I never had a single issue with smth pulling me out of the story. Sancia is awesome. I have smth about Orso buried under one of the spoiler tags. Berenice is great.

I've done a few scheduled reading BRs, and they tend to work out for awhile, until I start saving up to read more, or get ahead of schedule and have to wait awhile...

This book was great... some books feel like the author doesn't let things happen because the reveals need to be saved for the finale... that's definitely not the case here...

Totally agree about the reveals. They felt very natural not forced at all. Super pacing and so on. Uphill for the first half and then mostly downhill until the finish.
