This week, share the characters that you relate to and see yourself in.

Andrew | 653 comments Ooh, good topic! I hadn't really thought about this before, but I kind of see myself as a mix of Senlin from Senlin Ascends, Matrim Cauthon from The Eye of the World, and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. They are three very different characters, but I identify with:
-Mat's dry humor, ironic pessimism, and desire to not take on responsibilities despite always finding himself in charge
-Senlin's loyalty and desire to view the world for what he wants it to be rather than what it is,
-Hermione's ability to solve problems through research, her general disdain for ignorant people, and her close but small social circle

This is a tough one. I see myself in a lot of characters but there aren't any where I truly say wow that's me. I'll have to give it more thought.

Shae | 372 comments @Andrew - great answers!

This weeks top 3 is tricky :-) I quite like reading about characters that are relatable in some way and yet are very different to me.

At the moment the character I think I can most relate to would be: Mrs (Molly) Weasley from the Harry Potter Series - because my house is always full of hungry teenagers :-) If only I knew some of her magic cooking and cleaning up spells!

Julia | 122 comments Hermione Granger... smart, has a thirst for knowledge, loyal, determined, and a witch!

Luna Lovegood... wise but quirky. Respected by many, but only few are close enough friends to see and appreciate her true colours.

Polgara the Sorceress... powerful and determined but with an attitude you don’t dare cross. Polgara the Sorceress

Maria (mariasaleem) | 684 comments I too relate to Hermione but only to the extent of ethics and always insisting on following the rules (much to the annoyance of others lol), and in our love for books.

I relate to Ron more - being the average one among smarter people, easily jealous and having low self esteem 😬 I don't have his badass humour, though.

Also, Jenna Nickleson from the sci-fi Distant Horizon , who hit really close to home. In her loyalty towards and protectiveness of her friends, being a plant lover, and being the one with the "useless" superpowers.

Aakash (procrastinator) | 448 comments 1. Lazlo Strange from Strange the Dreamer. I loved that character. His daydreaming and love for books made me think I was there in the book as Lazlo. He believed in magic so do I( Stupid, I know but universe is a big place.)
2. Cedric.
In a quidditch match when Harry was attacked by a dementor, Cedric being just asked for a rematch. At that moment I thought bravo! Cedric, I would have done the same and other qualities like helping Harry in the lake contest.

3. And most of all ‘Percy Jackson’. He is my favourite character and I appreciate his loyalty towards his friends and see some bit of myself in him.

Cedric is so nice to Harry! Most of your choices make you sound like a Hufflepuff. Are you one? :)

Aakash (procrastinator) | 448 comments Yup! On pottermore I am Hufflepuff.

message 10: by Kathrine (new)

Kathrine | 1249 comments 1. Renarin Kholin from The Stormlight Archive. He's a bit weird but has his heart in the right place. Sanderson has written him like a person on the autistic spectrum, and it means so much to read about characters who are like me. Seeing Renarin not only be accepted by his family and friends but also being one of the heroes is a really amazing experience.
2. Hermione Granger, like a lot of other people on here. She's such a good role model.
3. Probably Bilbo Baggins. Just wanna hang out at home with a nice cup of tea, but does enjoy the occasional adventure!

Wow! I really forgot about Bilbo. He is an interesting character. I can relate to him.

1. Witt from Stormlight Archive - I just love busting balls especially of those who take themselves too seriously but I can be kind to those who need\deserve it.

2. Fred or George Harry Potter - having a twin to play jokes with would be cool.

3. Oponn - A twin sister to play chaos of coin flips with, where do I sign up?
