Kim I am reading "Beautiful Nightmare ". It's an anthology of short horror stories by several LOHF. So far I really like it.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments I finished Bunny Bunny by Mona Awad last week and it was weird and wonderful and disturbing.

Have you read her Feed series? I've just read book one and I really liked it.

message 104: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) since it didn't win the poll, i'm currently listening to Teeth in the Mist oh wow! this is a amazing audio book!

Sonora Taylor (sonorawrites) | 54 comments I'm reading Best. Movie. Year. Ever.: How 1999 Blew Up the Big Screen by Brian Raferty. Give it a read if you're a cinephile, indie-head, or just love reading about film. The first chapter covers The Blair Witch Project.

Cécile | 56 comments I'm reading Sawkill girls by Claire Legrand.

Sonora Taylor (sonorawrites) | 54 comments The Erotic Modern Life of Malinalli The Vampire (Book 1) by V. Castro

I really enjoyed V. Castro's "The Erotic Modern Life of Malinalli the Vampire." One of my favorite parts of Castro's "Maria the Wanted" was the erotic scenes, and this novelette is all that. I read it in one sitting on the bus and had to fan myself a couple times. Definitely give it a read!

message 108: by Dona (new)

Dona Fox | 2 comments I really enjoyed Dark Matter by Blake Crouch but I’m having trouble getting into Recursion. So I ordered Crime and the Gothic, Identifying the Gothic Footprint in Modern Crime Fiction by Sian MacArthur which is more of a textbook. And I’m loving it!

message 109: by Christa (new)

Christa I took a break in June-July to read a bit of nonfiction, NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity, but I finished it a few days ago and now I'm on to Return to Dyatlov Pass. A friend read the nonfiction account about it and made me curious, but I've had enough nonfiction for right now! LOL

I thought Dark Matter was great. I haven't tried Recursion yet.

Skin by Kathe Koja

Skin by Kathe Koja is AMAZING. I reread it recently and thought it held up excellently after all this time.

Sonora Taylor (sonorawrites) | 54 comments I'm finally reading The Stand and thus, August is booked, lol. (I do hope to join in on Little Darlings by the second half of the month)

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments Welcome to the group, R! And thank you for the recommendation! I hadn't heard of that one.

message 116: by E.F. (new)

E.F. | 8 comments Just finished Hollow Kingdom - amazing fantasy/horror with an ecological spin on end of humanity and an unforgettable POV.

message 118: by Käthe (new)

Käthe | 22 comments I’m currently reading Blackout by Mira Grant. I can’t express adequately how much I love this book, this series, this author!

message 119: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments I just finished "The grip of it". I enjoyed the tension and short chapters in the book. It reminds me that my own chapters can be as long as they need to be. ;)

Other than that, I've been proofreading and rewriting dialogue in my comic, which is now available for sale through Ingram's distribution network so I can get some other reading done!

I should try The Grip of It again. I didn't get much out of it the first time, but then I read it whilst away overnight for a wedding (which was both my first childfree night and my first taste (or several) of alcohol since having had a baby the year before), so it probably wasn't the right time to give it a fair try!

message 121: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Martin (kellymartinbooks) | 15 comments I'm currently reading Wonderland by Jennifer Hillier. It's more thriller than horror (but it definitely has horror elements). It's for the #lohfreadathon. I'm loving it to so far.

Wonderland

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments Just finished "To be devoured" by Sara Tantlinger since my power was out and I finished "Teeth in the Mist" as part of the #lohfreadathon. This was an avalanche of madness. I will have to write up a proper review later.

message 131: by Noelle (new)

Noelle Kelly (corpsebride) | 23 comments I just finished After She Returned by S.A. Dunphy, it's the third in a crime series with the most brilliant, awkward character ever - David Dunnigan. This one featured a creepypasta character called Mother Joan who's killing people in real life. It's brilliant

message 132: by Renee (new)

Renee S. DeCamillis (reneesdecamillis) | 7 comments Shallow Graves sounds awesome! I definitely want to read that one, especially after hearing how good it is.

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments Just finished House of Salt and Sorrows. I have Anna dressed in Blood left on my list from my readathon selections! message 137: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments I'm wrapping up Anna dressed in Blood right now. I am digging it! The paperback being printed in red ink is a nice touch.

message 138: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracy_reads79) | 77 comments I’m currently reading The Book of the Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison, and it is spectacular. Probably more Sci Fi than horror but it’s post apocalyptic and I am here for it.

message 148: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments I'm reading through Amanda Byrd's "13 reasons for murder: Politeness Kills" for a review before the book comes out next week. :) I want to get through my ARC due outs before I do more group reads. My Master's Capstone project proposal ate most of my month. :(

message 149: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments I survived the peer review of my capstone proposal and I finished Amanda's 13 reasons for murder. now moving on to my group reads for Sawkill girls and House of Leaves. Since I already read Wilder Girls, this gives me a chance to get caught up on my other reading. ❤️
