I occasionally make travel reservations for my boss and learned of this ruling a few days ago. According to the travel agent I spoke to, this law is for "security" reasons. http://www.tsa.gov/press/releases/200...
These laws currently place for "security" reasons do absolutely nothing to keep fliers safe and are merely an excuse to violate our rights. Flying was never fun, but it's really become a hassle lately.
I've always had problems flying: I look like a twelve year old boy and my Id states I am a 22 year old female.
Of course this is nothing but featherheaded government lunacy, since the sub-literate TSA bozos scowling at 1-oz bottles of hair conditioner are not going to prevent another 9/11.On the other hand, I have no plans to ever fly anywhere again, so for me the point is moot.
You get what you pay for, unfortunately. If the TSA were paid better and treated more professionally, you may end up with a more competent staff (and a more expensive airline ticket). National security is definitely not the area to cut corners.
I've cut back on flying too. The expense and hassles really takes a lot of fun out of a trip.
