I just noticed you put this together, Jen - thank you!!!

Shelf #9 - Books to TV Movies
Book:

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
Pages: 311
Qualification - book made into movie called "Charly"
Completed 7/31/19
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This is one of those books that I can't say I enjoyed it, but it was still a really good book. It was painful seeing Charlie's journey from being happy in his simple world but always wanting to 'be smart' to actually being smart but not being happy. I really hated his mom!!!

Alejandro - The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes - Completed 8/4/19 - Msg 464
Jen K - The Man in the High Castle - Completed 8/3/19 - Msg 451
Mary - The Hound of the Baskervilles - Completed 8/1/19 - Msg 477
Meg - Persuasion - Completed 8/3/19 - Msg 458
SandyL - Flowers for Algernon - Completed 7/31/19 - Msg 453
Tiffany - One for the Money - Completed 8/3/19 - Msg 455

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
Pages: 352
Qualification: made into a movie.
Review: Stephanie Plum has lost her job and is dead broke. So, she bribed her cousin, Vinnie, into letting her be a skip tracer. Her first assignment is to track down Joseph Morelli, a cop who’s wanted for murder, a cop she has a past with. She manages to get another skip tracer, the Uber sexy Ranger, to help her and ends up with a psychopathic boxer after her. Stephanie gets herself into many funny predicaments. The characters in this book are hilarious, particularly Lula and Grandma Mazur. This was way better than the movie!

No problem, there are even more after this week's shelf.

Shelf: Books to TV/Movie
Book: Persuasion by Jane Austen
Pages: 259
Read: 08/03
Rating: 5*
Review: This classic by the ever-popular Jane Austen was actually published six months after her death. It is an excellent novel of so many things, but ultimately it is a wonderful story of a second chance at love. It is, however, much deeper than merely being a love story; but, then, that is the beauty and strength of Jane Austen's works. Time to dig up my copy of this movie, and my other Austen favorites, and have a binge fest!

It was a good one, thanks. Hope you had a nice one, as well!

SHELF: Book to TV/Movie
BOOK: The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
PAGES: 320
READ: 8/04
RATING: 4☆☆☆☆
REVIEW: This was my first A.C. Doyle read.
It is a collection of 11 short stories narrated from Watson's point of view. I was hooked and plan to read more books about Sherlock Holmes in the future. Really enjoyed the characters. The plot lines in each of the stories were very good also.
Very well written with a good tempo. Page turner for sure. I will enjoy the tv series much more thanks to this book. Would definitely reccommend this to friends and family. I am glad this reading challenge resulted in me giving A.C. Doyle a try.

Yes - I put the request in and I think Ezi's still working on updating the bingo cards.

Congratulations 10 More Minutes on completing your Dual/Multiple Authors Shelf.

This is a favorite of mine as are all of the Sherlock Holmes. So I reread it every few years. I even own the complete Sherlock Holmes books in a couple of formats. This one has always been my favorite SH story. I love the foggy English Moor, the mysterious hound and the whole shebang. Was nice to revisit it after a few years of being away.

Supernatural Pregnancy
Adult Pregnancy and Babies not YA
Chick-Lit Motherhood
Most of these are romance but hopefully you can find something. You can also check out other team threads to see what others are using. Sorry I couldn't find more!

Review: This is a great story! Mara is a very insecure woman who takes in her cousin's kids after he goes to jail. She's had a crush on her neighbor, Mitch Lawson, for four years, but has always been too shy to talk to him. When the kids arrive, Mitch starts to help her and it turns out he has wanted to ask her out for awhile. And, since he's a cop, it turns out very helpful when her cousin's cronies start causing trouble for Mara, along with her trailer trash mother and aunt. I love this book!

Book: The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
Pages: 259 pages
Completed: 8/3/19
Rating: 4 stars
Review: What if Roosevelt died instead of Hitler? What if the Nazis had won WW2 and split the conquered allies with Japan? The reader is shown a glimpse of life in this alternate world through life in San Francisco ruled by Japan and in a tenuous partnership with Nazi Germany. And then an alternative history books shows up shaking everyone's beliefs by imagining a world where the US and Britain won the war. In the Amazon series, the characters are a bit more fleshed out with slightly different details. I will need to get back to the show to see if the ending is similar.
