Review: This book is a fantastic read. Nalini Singh weaves magic as usual. I love the Psy-Changeling World!! Dorian is a latent shift and he is a sniper. The book is a balance of romance and action. Ashaya is a fantastic heroine!! She might not be birth mother of her son but my gosh, the lengths she went to protect the kid has my heart thumping. An action packed fun read!!

Shelf: Goodreads Choice Awards Nominee
Book: Artemis
How it fits: Goodreads Choice Nominee for Science Fiction, 2017
Pages: 305
Rating: 2 star
Review: I've been waiting awhile to read this one (I actually put it on my TBR before it was released, which I rarely ever do). I loved The Martian. But everything I loved about that book was missing from this one, namely the author's scientific knowledge. I loved the technical explanations in The Martian, alongside the main character's tone. This MC, Jazz, was difficult to like. She was impulsive and sarcastic to the point of being annoying, and the storyline itself just didn't have the same high stakes as Andy Weir's first novel. I kept waiting for the book to pick up and lose some of its silliness, but that continued all the way to the end. I'm crossing my fingers for a better third book.

She needs to post her book so we can get stamps....not sure what to do!!
Thoughts??

Either way, Team KLOGS was just waiting on Pregnancy/Child to be called to complete their Bingo, so in all likelihood this the last week of the challenge.
We can double check with the mods and see if we can get the stamps without Alli's reads, just in case.

Shelf - BOOKS TO MOVIES
Book: The Running Man | Richard Bachman
Pages: 417
Date Read: 07-Aug-2019
Rating: ★★★.5
How it Fits the Shelf: Made into a movie 'The Running Man (1987)' starring Arnold Schwarzeneggar.
Review:
Once again, Stephen King proves that he can read the future. He wrote this book in 1982, set in 2025, in a world where reality shows have become brutal and people make their life decisions based on the outcome of such shows. Also, it is a time where the divide between the rich and the poor is categorical vast and utterly lopsided. In essence, this book is an example of pure action driven storytelling that is done in a compelling way. You don't really get to understand why the world is the way it is, why the people enjoy watching human beings being tread-milled to death or being hunted like rats for a little cash, or why no one can muster up sympathy for children dying from cancer. There's just not enough time to sit back and absorb the people and the environment. When you think you can stop to breathe, someone shoots a gun or sirens blare in the background, and you're off and running again.
Overall, it was a fantastic read that is dark, action-packed, and a little wonky, if you will. The prose is littered with some anachronistic slang. The world building, while physically stark, is thematically hazy because explanations are sparse and far in between. But the story itself is fantastic and definitely well worth the read.

Okay, I will send Ezi a PM.
I hope she’s okay. I’m sure if things are so urgent that she hasn’t been on GR and it’s not some scheduled vacation, she wouldn’t mind you guys proceeding without her.
I’m fine if you guys want to get your Stamps and just consider her on Injury Reserve

Shelf: Dual/Multi Author
Book: Moscow Noir
How it fits: Short story collection, 10+ authors included
Pages: 280
Rating: 3 star
Review: This is the third or fourth book I've read from the Akashic Noir collection, and I've really enjoyed them. With a collection of short stories there'll always be some that I really enjoy and other less so, and this was no exception. I'd say 3/4ths of the stories in this book were good, the others I could have done without. What I love about these books is that they're centered on a single city, and the authors are either from that city by birth or transplant, so you get a very in depth look at the culture and location (albeit from a dark and seedy perspective, these being noir stories). It's fun to explore the imaginative dark side of these well known locations, and to see what perspectives the authors share, and where they differ.

Team KLOGS just called out BINGO!
We were close, and we surely did a great job!
Thanks Namita for stepping up and keeping everything in order throughout the challenge. Thank you everyone for being a great team.
I'm sure we will bump into each other across GoodReads. :D
