The book was about a group of gods that have to pick a champion from a list of people who meet certain criteria. The champions will compete in a world built for the contest. The main character is chosen by a god of alcohol and craftsman. The god takes the form of a monkey that gives no shits about anything. The main character spends his time tricking people into loosing to him, following him and is always the underdog in everything in the world for the contest. But the his god sneakily made it so he can return to his world at any time and it will have no impact on the game world. The game world is a world with 2 types of people players which are people from other world playing this as a VR game. And NPCs who are residents to the world. All the champions are players except for the main character who to the world system is classified as a NPC. The main character also antecedently becomes a demigod of fire and rebirth.
