Her sexual lifestyle shouldn't have any effect on how the case is handled but public opinion does affect cases. I think Carina is right accusing them of not making it a priority. It should make no difference whatsoever what her sex life is.
Unfortunately, the "blame the victim" attitude is far too prevalent both in law enforcement and the general public.
Yes, I sadly agree with you that blaming the victim, and having the male/female double standard on some issues today, does affect law enforcement and the public's knee-jerk reactions. No one would admit it's rational anymore, would they?
It always amazes me as to why a victim could ever be deserving of assault, which is in essence what their saying. Breaks my heart that it still happens today and often by women.

I saw an article a few weeks ago about a mother wanted the girls at her sons' school to stop wearing leggings because they were "suggestive" and "forced" boys to look at them. Really? She should teach her sons to respect women no matter what they are wearing! Argh!
Lauren, this thinking drives me crazy!!! This is at the root of extremist religious beliefs, that women have to cover up to prevent causing men to lust after them.
If the feminist cause does nothing else, I hope they tackle this issue among women, get at the root cause of it and shift the thinking. It was created by men to control women centuries ago and will take some time to alter course.

You would think that this wouldn't be an issue this day and age, but people will always think the worse about someone who has a strong sexual appetite. This should never make the person less of a person and not worth the full attention of the police, though. I'm glad that Carina said something about it.
I think Harry Bosch says it best...Everybody counts, or nobody counts. Sad that it's not that way.
However, I didn't necessarily see it as her fellow police officers assigned it less priority because of her lifestyle as much as I felt it wasn't as big a priority in the beginning because there wasn't yet evidence of a serial killer - suspicion, yes - but as far as they knew, it was one murder, maybe an isolated case. And they had a great number of cases in progress. I did feel that Carina feared it was getting too little attention because of the sexual activity.

Oh! You used a Harry Bosch quote!!! Be still my heart💜💜💜
