Sukanya (theemptycartridge) (theemptycartridge) | 15 comments A conversation with Ramesh K Shah, author of Productivity and global management practises, published by Bluerose Publishers.
1. Tell us about yourself – Myself Ramesh K. Shah, a technocrat & management consultant, travelled around the world and had immense study of organisational work culture at MNCs’. Wide experience, holding higher management positions such as President, Profit centre Head ( PCH ), CEO in different Companies world over. At present, representing M/s Adman FOREX Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad as the Managing Director of the Company. Engaged in training the higher & middle level management executive staff.

2. If not being an author, what was your dream in life? – A management mentor with the MNC corporate advising other organisations on various aspects of operations, marketing & services. While replying, you may excuse me to play around textile industry, being a man of textiles.

3. In today’s scenario where unemployment is rampant, where do you think the future of industries lie? – very important question, I think revolves around the most mind of corporate leaders, educational institutions and individual students alike.
First of all, it is very important to have data at national level of classified industry of employment. Saying it other way round, the collected data of Unemployment through the agencies like National Employment Exchange, must act as the best indicator on the unemployed number. All workers must be aligned in the organised stream through categorised separate minimum wages, for Skilled, Semi – skilled & Unskilled workers. Also, all of them must be enrolled in ESI so that nation gets the perfect data at any point of time. Therefore, ESI will provide a better & perfect employment picture rather than PF.
To handle unemployment, the Govt. must have a policy, whereby the organised export oriented units should only install High Speed machines. For example, in textiles even the power loom sector is allowed to install High Speed machines. It will create unhealthy competition and unemployment. We should have our national fabric production plan by the Govt. every year in coordination with textile owners of super quality & quantity of fabrics. Rampant increase in capacity of High Speed machines brings about the evils like bank loan defaulting, idle capacity & ultimately unemployment.
4. What is the most important criteria, according to you, to ensure optimum productivity?
The Govt. must seriously engage in making assessment of fabric inventory and set up proper production plan every year for all the 3 sectors – Handloom, Power loom & organised mill sector.
