Karen Armo | 7 comments This book’s protagonist comments on her husband buying Pour-a-Pie (exactly the type of thing he would buy!). In the story I think she’s a writer for an Enquirer-like newspaper. In one scene, she tries to change a light bulb that’s at the top of a very tall ceiling and hurts herself. I believe she is frustrated that she is relying on her husband.

I think I read this in the 90’s - does anyone know the name or author of this book?

Karen, what's the genre - e.g., chick lit, humor, cozy mystery, etc.?

Pour-a-pie is a container with all the ingredients for a pie that you bake?

Karen Armo | 7 comments Heh heh, it’s hard for me to admit, but I think it is chick-lit. The protagonists husband buying Pour-a-Pie was only brought up to show that her husband was easy-going and had a sense of adventure.
I think it was more about this woman trying to cope without help and having a hard time of it

Karen Armo | 7 comments Oops, and Pour-a-Pie is all the ingredients in one box (I think it was a made-up concept at the time).

Is it called "Pour-a-Pie" in the story?

Karen Armo | 7 comments Yes. And I think the protagonist was a writer for some kind of creative paper like the Inquirer.

Bigfoot Dreams by Francine Prose?

From the Google Books preview:

"They've got this new stuff called Pour-A-Pie. It's lemon meringue in a milk carton. One side's the filling, the other's meringue, pour it into a readymade pie crust, bake ten minutes, and bingo! What do you think of that?” What is Vera supposed to think, except to wonder what they put in the meringue to keep it permanently whipped?" Vera would never serve Pour-A-Pie..."

Karen Armo | 7 comments You are AMAZING! That’s the book 😊. I don’t know how you found it, but you are my hero.
